The Republican civil war is just getting started

The Republican civil war is just getting started

"I think it's important for Republican leaders around the country to speak out against him and neutralize him," Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said of Cruz. "Otherwise he's going to start the same nonsense again in December or January."

On the flip side, Tea Partiers blamed moderate Republicans for selling out the party. Powerful grassroots organizations that fomented the early Tea Party uprisings and who promoted the shutdown effort are driving that message home to movement conservatives.

FreedomWorks blasted the shutdown deal as a "full surrender" to Democrats. The Senate Conservatives Fund called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) a "turncoat" and urged conservatives to oust him in a primary.
    As a Democrat:

It may just be a situation in which the tea baggers have to win in order to bring down your country to the level at which the people will start to fight for their rights and a fair share. If that's the case then there is a great deal of suffering to be endured by the ordinary American before your country wises up.

In reality, I think the tea bagger agenda will be completely defused when Obama's term is over and the racist element no longer exists. The baggers will no longer have the motivation that keeps them hating.

The OP is totally correct. The tea partiers have an autistic quality, they will continue to push the GOP into fighting for irrational and extreme policies rejected by the American people, and the normals in the party will have to either break with them or go along. Either way, the GOP loses.

Once you turn the rightwing noise machine on, you can't turn it off. It just gets louder and more extreme day by day.

Our only choice is to elect another minority. This time he/she better be atleast 75% minority, that'll really get things going!
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.

So... let me get this straight: you think that as soon as Obama is not our President anymore, the national debt will begin shrinking, the idiotic and harmful legislative disasters like the ACA will begin suddenly make sense, the lethal drones will turn into a robotic equivalent of Marry Poppins, etc, etc?

Well, excuse my lack of reverence, but I sincerely don't think our current President is all that magical powerful or all that caricature-evil.

Just relax for a moment and allow the possibility that this is not all about Obama and especially not about concentration of melanin in his epidermis. Because - honesty - nobody I personally know cares about THAT in the least. And many of us are pretty much "tea baggers" - by deed or by inclination.

The problem is the Tea Party movement was never about that. It was a direct reaction to Obama's election. They had no problem with growing debt for 30 years. They suddenly have a problem with it when Obama gets elected.

So they came up with the name Taxed Enough Already as a cover story for Get Blacky? I'm pretty sure its a complaint about policy that pushes for more social spending by increasing taxes.

What's the solution to the budget deficit? Spend more money and increase taxes
What's the solution to social issue X? Spend more money and increase taxes
What's the solution to fixing healthcare.gov? Spend more money and increase taxes.

As for the debt, looking at the last 30 years worth of increases:
    83-93 -- 3 trillion
    93-03 -- 2.8 trillion
    03-13 -- 10 trillion ( 7 trillion of which has happened since 08 )

I don't think those things will happen, but I would be willing to bet real money that if a GOP president is elected in 2016 the tea party will remain "vocal" all the while voting for the GOP like the right did with Bush. They "said" the didn't like the spending, but voted for him again.

Nonsense. The tea party movement is a direct outgrowth of the Ron Paul Revolution - that was directed as much against the mainstream GOP as against the Unthinking Left - and its independent flourishing, starting in 2009, had every sign of being an acute reaction to the financial crisis - brought on by very similar Republican and Democratic policies.

The Democratic spinners thought they are invincible: Accuse anyone who has anything against what their side is doing of racism - and you win automatically. Did not work out that way. We are dumb, as a nation, but we are not THAT dumb.

I wish I could bookmark threads like this. When Obamacare begins to implode and and Christie wins the White House it will be fun to find out what happened to the people who were so sure it was all over for the GOP. Probably be in hiding by then, huh?
