Looks like Walmart will be the generous one covering the losses.

Wal-Mart, Xerox blame each other for Louisiana shopping gone wild - chicagotribune.com

He said emergency procedures in place with Xerox allow retailers to call a phone number and receive authorization for purchases any time the EBT system is down. "Some retailers chose not to follow the process," he said. "Those businesses are only being reimbursed for the (maximum) amounts on individual cards," he said.

Williams said that amounts transacted above the cards' available balances were returned to Wal-Mart marked "as insufficient funds."

A few problems with this argument: 1) Walmart is not the entity issuing funds here, the US govt is 2) clearly these people are well aware of the fact that They do not possess unlimited EBT funds. So they were just as complicate in fraud here as Walmart.

I know everyone wants to use this to push a political agenda, but I have no tolerance for someone stealing my tax dollars, regardless if they don't pay federal income tax,, or if they have a corporate tax number.

If it was my decision I would pursue fraud charges against everyone involved, and allow the "who is paying for this" be decided in civil court between walmart and the numerous individuals involves.

    **** all those assholes

They didnt KNOW they were attempting to defraud Walmart...how could they POSSIBLY know??? They were just shoppping like normal and didnt think they were doing ANYTHING wrong. I mean...its not like they abandoned a trainload of groceries and shopping carts after the system came up. Why...they were just poor innocent victims.....

lol, no, they made a decision to try and defraud you for your hard earned tax dollars, just like the moops buying 50 gallons of Mayo. And for some reason you love them for it

And in return, people went on a wilding spree...and of course in your twisted ****ed up world, thats Walmarts fault.

Yeah, and walmart dished out free trepinations to all their workers the day before. Hence, they didn't notice anything strange, either.

The fact that people are defending this from either party's perspective is mind blowing, and it's absolutely insane that both sides are using the same faulty logic to defend their position
