Isn't that something you should know before instantly dubbing them unworthy of the award?

I have posted threads on all of the Nobel Prize winners for this year and Americans among them. Economics they don't deserve, period!

Well, Krugman got the prize for his long-ago work on international trade - NOT for his hyper-partisan (and, frankly, embarrassingly stupid) political opinion columns.

Obama and Gore got the Nobel Peace Prize. Not even the same country.

Krugman is demented, but he wasn't awarded the Nobel Prize for the tripe he writes in the NYT. His original academic economic work was outstanding. It's a tragedy that he lost his mind.

Giving Gore the Nobel Peace Prize was a mistake. His actions are worth some kind of prize for humanitarianism, but it's hard to say they've advanced the particular cause of peace.

Krugman does deserve the Nobel Prize in Economics. He has the main qualification, which is understanding that conservatism doesn't work.

Disclaimer: Krugman teaches at Princeton University, less than 20 miles from my home, so I'm biased in his favor for more than just political reasons.
The work for which Krugman won the prize was deeply rooted in neoclassical economic theory.

Mssrs. Fama and Hansen were professors of mine in graduate school. They are outstanding economists and are overdue recipients of the prize.
