Republicans Lose Ground vs. Obama in the Shutdown Blame Game

Ah yes, more of the same from you. You change your positions when YOUR side is in charge and then act totally different when it isn't. More hypocrisy from you Con, not suprised.

And you do what typical third party people do, whine and complain about something you don't understand and are in no position to change.

I don't think the issues you raised meet that standard. You and your ilk put too much faith in federal agencies that helped create the current 17 trillion dollar debt. Why?

Obama certainly deserves the blame for a good chunk of that....but once again Con....you are forgetting that your hero played a huge role in that figure as well. When GWB took office the debt was just under 5 trillion....when he left office it was almost 11 trillion.....so keep it all in perspective.

Doesn't make me a hypocrite like you though. That's FACT! I don't trust lying, hypocritical people like you.

Wow, so much right-wing frothing in this thread, must have really hit a nerve. You guys, the GOP, are hanging yourselves and in predictable fashion you're blaming everyone except numero uno.

These ridiculous beliefs you guys spew over and over... you must understand only you believe this, you in the bubble. Everyone outside the bubble laughs at you and wonders what the hell is wrong with you.

Deficit Picture Even Grimmer Than New CBO Projections Suggest, 8/26/03

2013 deficits were predicted to be 650 Billion in 2003. Ten years later we find that they were 750 Billion.

How you coming on providing that quote where I said Bush was an economic genius? So the debt when Bush took office was under 5 trillion? Really? Hmmmm

Government - Historical Debt Outstanding – Annual

Guess the Treasury Dept. has it wrong

Sounds a lot like a personal attack. Some would report you

Not a personal attack at all. You are quite hypocritical (This has been proven with your posts) and your accusations of me have shown you lying. All Fact Con!

Actually, the extremists have all but taken over the Republican caucus. Boehner is cowing to them instead of keeping them under control; this is the first time in history that the extremist wing of a party has usurped the power of the speaker and taken over the caucus. They're destroying the party, yes, but Jim DeMint and Ted Cruz don't really care because they know they'll get fat funding checks from their financial backers and are confident in their reelection in their gerrymandered districts.

Especially after this uber conservative SCOTUS gives the thumbs up to this McCutcheon vs FEC case.

President Bush And The National Debt - CBS News
It was 5.7 trillion.....so I should have said closer to 6 trillion than 5 trillion....nevertheless, GWB took the debt from 5.7 trillion to almost 11 trillion. (Something that you conveniently always leave out....why so Con? Don't want to accept any of the responsibility for the debt on behalf of your hero?

Don't want to accept any of the responsibility for the debt on behalf of your hero?

Of course he doesn't. There are posts from him actually EXCUSING the debt of GWB. According to him (through his posts) if the GOP racks up debt, that is ok, but not if the Dems do it.

I'm curious as to why people are so short sighted as to thinking the debt is only the presidents responsibility. What about congress?

Mid 40's

You must be thinking of the republicans in Congress whose rating is between the high teens and the low 20's

:lamo

No - Obama's approval numbers are 37 percent.

However, the House of Representatives approval rating is FIVE percent. No, this is not a typo. It really IS 5 percent.

But numbers for everybody are dropping sharply. Best outcome we can hope for here is that a third party will rise up because of all this BS.

No, didn't leave it out at all, the debt was 5.7 trillion when he took office and when he left it was 10.6 trillion that is a 4.9 trillion dollar debt. 1 trillion of that was due to 9/11 or are you one of those liberals who said they wouldn't forget but did? Obama took office with a 10.6 trillion debt that is now approaching 17 trillion. Bush added that debt in 8 years, Obama added his in 5. Your numbers and mine are very close but mine are accurate according to the Treasury Dept site I gave you but here it is again.

Debt to the Penny (Daily History Search Application)

This will give you deficit by day and you can see the debt on January 21, 2009

Here is the yearly debt

Since the taxpayers pay debt service on the debt it would benefit you if you copied these links and used them in the future to prevent yourself from looking foolish.

Yeah, I think politicos of all stripes are eager to end the shutdown before the public sees that the sky hasn't fallen.

Yep.

I think it's good for the people to see that the shutdown will not cause the sky to fall.

the longer the government is shut down, more stories like these will appear

Govt health and safety efforts slowed or halted - Yahoo Finance

which means who will make sure the food is determined to be safe to eat

Salmonella-tainted chicken prompts health alert - CBS News

and who will stop diseases long thought eradicated from reappearing?

U.S. measles cases in 2013 may be most in 17 years - CNN.com
Yep.

Stories like that do appeal to those wanting a Nanny state.

Luckily, most people don't want a nanny state.

I am happy with my Rep, how about you? Seriously do Congressional poll numbers really mean anything? Love how people tout those numbers as meaningful. Maybe you have Sheila Jackson Lee, I have Kevin Brady. Does it really matter what the NY polled individuals think of my Representative?

Yep.

Luckily, most people don't want a nanny state.

Most people don't want to get sick because the food was not checked things like somonella.

And people don't want to get sick from measles because no one knew there was a vaccine for it.

Congress plays a big part but ultimately it is judged by the President's policies and ability to promote his agenda. People like Conservative want to put ALL of the blame on the President when the President is a Democrat....and all of the blame on Congress when the President is a Republican.

Your opinion noted however you have yet to prove that any of the data I have posted is false. I can beat you to death all day with verifiable data showing you to be exactly who you are, a typical third party whiner.

Doesn't matter. People don't like the end result. Period. It takes one hell of a lot of douche baggery to end up with 5 percent approval.
