They are a major source of Big Money and cultural division in politics.

have you heard, California plan's on raising the minimum wage to 10 dollars an hour.

No thinking person has accused California of doing the smart thing in years.

The best estimate I have seen comes from Michael Kinsman who claims that about 2 million Californians make California minimum wage and the employment number in California is 16.8 million not the 18 million I quoted therefore the number making California minimum wage is well over 10%, probably the highest in the nation and that is at $8 an hour.

    MICHAEL KINSMAN

State's minimum wage should be tied to inflation index

No one knows for sure how many Californians earn minimum wage. The best estimates claim that about 2 million jobs pay the minimum or slightly above that – about 13.5 percent of all jobs in the state

2$ is enough to make people flee? i guess some business's owners can't handle such a small obligation.

Not necessarily individual people but businesses will be fleeing in larger numbers than they are now.

CA has a larger GDP than TX and more people prefer to live there than the cesspool known as TX
