Why Are American Women Living 5 Years Less than Their Mothers?

Lets compare women today to women then. Today they go to the air conditioned super market with pleasant music playing and pick pre made meals off the shelves to stick in the micro wave. Then they went out to the garden in the blazing sun and picked vegetables to bring in and make dinner over a hot wood stove from scratch. Today they toss a load of laundry into the washing machine and while that is being done they watch a little TV or go out on the deck and work on their tan. Then they boiled water again over a hot wood stove, poured it into a big bucket and washed each piece of clothing by hand over a scrub board. I could go on all day but surly you get my point. Just admit you are wrong and move on.:)

Yes, there are differences. Which still doesn't take away from the fact that they are still doing work.

And anyone who thinks that you toss the clothes in the washing machine and go to watch tv is just plain ignorant. While the first load of laundry is in, you might then start a load of dishes. Or maybe clean up the stuff in the living room. Then, after you switched the first load to the dryer and put start the second load, you will vacuum the frontroom or move some furniture. Then you might sweep the stairs or clean your room or take care of the toddler that is running around. Or perhaps you take out the trash and recycling. Then as you move another load into the dryer, if this is the last one, you will drive (or walk) to the store to get groceries. Then maybe you have to go to run some other errands. And then you have to clean up outside, possibly weeding the yard or cleaning up toys. You also have to take the car to the shop. There is also cleaning the kitchen and the bedrooms and the bathrooms. This is normal every day or couple of days or so for a stay at home mom. Not including the fact that you also have to make each meal for any children at home. You might have to drop off the kids at school and pick them up. Then if you have a child with any special needs, but not in school, you will also likely have a mixed schedule for them, taking them to a therapist to ensure they are able to start school when it comes time. This doesn't include doctor's appointments or dentist appointments or any extra things that come up.

And this is all just for those that stay at home. Most women don't, most work nowdays. Which means that they will have to do most of this stuff plus their job, which is, on average, 7.6 hours a day.

Aha!!!!. :doh So if somebody in a position of authority does not tell you that a five year study of three million woman conducted in a lab by experts prove that women engage in childhood rearing tasks and household work then you do not accept that they do.

Never said that didn't! I am saying that you have claimed they do more combined work now and that it is killing them. You haven't provided evidence of either of those points.

As the BLS statistics show in an earlier post, when you count work and home and child rearing men do more total work, yet their life expectancy isn't on the decline.

You are just stomping around making half a point and demanding that it is a whole proof. You are simply and utterly wrong.

You have just announced to all that you have passed up Alice in falling down the rabbit hole and are about to have tea with the Mad Hatter. One has to seriously wonder where exactly you live that you would even question such a reality.

*sigh* If it is so obvious then you should have no trouble with showing the statistics and showing that they are different than men in that experience to even hint at showing a causal relationship between women's total work load and women's life expectancy.

I previously challenged you to reproduce the quote from me where I stated what you claim in my "initial point". And you were impotent to produce such a thing. Instead you took other things I said and attempted to twist them, to pervert them, to fill in the blanks with your own nonsense, and basically craft what you wanted to be my position for me so you can argue against what you want to argue. Not only is that intellectually dishonest in the extreme - but after you have been called out on it and you failed to provide the appropriate quote you continue to engage in this fraud. This is pathetic.

And I provided it and you conveniently snipped it from your reply without commenting on it. Funny how you dodge it over and over and claim it isn't there. So again, here it is:

Haymarket: The combined pressures of being in the workforce plus still having to do the vast majority of the household tasks are taking a toll.

Jmotivator: HAHA! In your house maybe...

Haymarket: I was speaking about the situation in tens of millions of homes in the USA.

Jmotivator: Are you talking about single parent households?

Haymarket: Women raising kids without a husband in the house.

So, in a thread about the declining life expectancy you blame the increasing pressure of work and household tasks, and then clarify that you are talking about single mothers.... So you are saying that increase in work and household tasks are shortening the lives of single mothers. I have asked you to prove that any of those assertions are true, you have provided none of them.

You provided links where some of them talked about the increase in women in the workforce, but none of them argued that they did most of the household chores on average.

The closest thing to measuring this is the BLS statistics provided by someone else which don't say what you want them to (or what they wanted them to).

And there is your major malfunction. You PRESUME that I am as lazy as you are. You PRESUME that I do not read the information because you do not read the information. You PRESUME that I have the same basic flaws in debate as you just admitted to.

Don't PRESUME. It just makes you look foolish when you are called out for it and have to admit the error of your own ways as you just did.

I don't PRESSUME. I see that you have still not discussed anything specific in any of those documents which shows you never read them. But then when one of your links that is supposed to prove something about the growing burden of work and chores on women is actually just an "About Us" page for Bureau of Labor it's clear that your were extremely lazy.

I challenge you again to demonstrate that you read those links. Give me a bullet point summary of the data in each of those links that supports your argument, You say you read them so it should take you know time at all.

Never said that didn't! I am saying that you have claimed they do more combined work now and that it is killing them.

In which post did I make that claim? And please be honest this time and produce the quote which says that. You have not gotten away with the moving the goal posts with me saying women working outside the home plus maintaining the home fires is taking a toll. Not gonna work. Nope. No way - no how.

I don't PRESSUME.

You already said you did indeed PRESUME. You said just that in your own post #162. Were you lying then or are you lying now?

I challenge you again to demonstrate that you read those links. Give me a bullet point summary of the data in each of those links that supports your argument, You say you read them so it should take you know time at all.

I would not give a five pound of common garden manure for the value of your challenge. I have already told you very clearly - I will NOT reward your laziness by taking you by the hand and spoon feeding you. Nope. Not gonna happen. That would only encourage tactics that should be rewarded with eternal banishment, scorn and ridicule.

I spent a good deal of time doing research to provide you a raft of detailed links with a volume of information that provided just what was asked for. In three minutes after I posted you dismissed them having not even read them. These are the hallmarks of an intellectual fraud of the worst sort.
