Undercover NYPD Cop Watched SUV Driver Get Beaten

Then why was he arrested yesterday?
Because while he was "undercover" at the time of the incident. He was not on case, he was on his private time. And he should have had the guts to interviene either way.
He just had to stop a fight, not pull his badge and gun. There is a word for guys like that. Begins with P ends with Y.

Stop a fight? Just exactly how would you advise him to do that?

His responsibility was to break away from the group and call 911.

Yea, he didnt do that either. But yes, stop a fight. Its called being a man.

His own wife AND a cop didn't come to his defense. He must feel like a winner! SMH!

I would have wanted my wife to stay in the vehicle to protect my child.
The only thing he did wrong was not take out a few more of them punks.

I've been told that in the Mossad, and according to strict Jewish law, the concept of murder applies only to killing another jew. The killing of a gentile is not considered to be "murder".
NYPD is not the Mossad.

That group of bikers is lucky. If that was me behind the wheel of an SUV vs a bunch of bikers looking to do that there would be much more than one in the hospital. I do not necessarily blame the cop for not bursting out. He was already on the scene of a group of outlaw bikers who were hunting a person down to gang beat him. He might have done some good, and he might have ended up in the same situation. I feel really bad for the people in the car because it was clear this gang went out to find a victim and antagonized a situation to the point where they put a family at risk. When you get to that point in the crazy road game you do not give. Cops have rules which is why you pull over for them, but you never pull over for someone else. Had they met someone like me I would have been going for score. You are on a bike, I have a car, you are getting hurt. I have played road warrior with other cars before, and there would be no fear in hitting a bike on a homicidal race. I don't know what those guys are thinking, but i would have played see how many bounces i can get before the final skid of blood.

What would you do? Shoot'em?

"An off-duty undercover New York City police officer was among the crowd of motorcyclists on the scene as SUV driver Alexian Lien was beaten on Sunday, officials confirmed to ABC News today.

The undercover narcotics cop did not intervene in the beating out of fear that his cover would be blown, sources said."

It further reads:

"The information is part of the ongoing investigation by the NYPD and the Manhattan district attorney into the confrontation and beating that happened Sunday afternoon between a group of 20 to 30 motorcyclists and Lien, caught on video and uploaded to the Internet.

The officer's involvement is also the subject of an Internal Affairs investigation, sources said."

Uh oh, someone is in trouble!

Can't blow his cover. This is not news.

It's still not clear if he was actually under cover.

He was an under cover police officer, Plain clothsed detective. He was not on assingment or on a case. He was riding with his buddies. Most probably knew he was a cop.
But all being hood rats, they were not going to say anything.
He was though a police officer 24/7. He failed to up hold his duty. He failed to protect a citizen of NY from a brutal attack.
He should be jailed with his ridin' boys.

If that's the case, his ass needs to go to jail.

Seeing how he was charged so quickly and this has gone public, I tend to agree that he wasn't working a case.

In Florida, there more than likely been shots fired. As soon as that first hit to my side window happend, you just brought a helmet to a gunfight.

They use their bikes to slow down and block traffic to open up highway for the group in front to speed on and race. Sometimes do tricks as well.

In hindsight, using a motorcycle to block an SUV may not be the best idea. Especially after this got such exposure. If people weren't scared about a gang of motorcyclists boxing them in before they probably are now.

I know SUVs give off that I don't give a F*** look, but most SUV drivers aren't going to run over someone in front of them. I don't just hit things with my car that are impeding me. Also, my clearance on my SUV isn't great. I don't know how many motorcycles I could run over in a row. May need a hummer.

RRs have adjustable ride height. Get stuck on a set of handle bars or a leg or two? Raise up and carry on.http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qC2fwBIDr...ACA/8ZKU6a3edSw/s1600/Range-Rover-Concept.jpg

I heard on TV that the off duty cop was the one who took off his helmet and started bashing the window of the SUV. He tried to deny it but they have him on video.

How can a cop be be undercover and off duty?

Oh. So he wasn't really undercover.

Apparently, that motorcycle gang were trouble where ever they went.

Ask his boss why the cop wasn't paid overtime. I don't know, probably complex union ****.

He wasn't on duty. The detective was on his own time. He hired a lawyer before turning himself in.

So he should've just blown his cover, putting himself and his family in danger, to inject himself into a fight that still would've been 2 on 20-30?
With him facing criminal charges along with his identity being made public for all to see, I'm not convinced that he was acting on behalf of the NYPD.

Well most SUV drivers will never have to make that decision. Nobody has ever put me into a situation like that. Still, even if this incident had not occurred, parking myself and my motorcycle in front of a much larger vehicle on the highway just would never occur to me. Perhaps if I was the guy in the SUV and wanted to barricade a smaller vehicle. But blockading the SUV with my motorcycle? Seems like a crazy way to risk my life under the assumption most people won't run over someone to escape.

So you are willing to run someone over on a motorcycle who is in front you slowing down and doing 10 mph less than the speed limit? You can't go around him, there are more bikes there. Do you hit him, or just slow down? Most people just slow down.
