Dems move to force Republicans to reopen the government

Way to put your ignorance on display...props.

My point is that after the stunt House Republicans are pulling you don't really get to complain about this.

When Democrats get on live television and personally hold a finger on a detonator wired to a thousand pounds of C4 in an elementary school (with school in session), then yeah, I'll admit that's pretty over the top and you'll have a right to complain. And I'll be like, "No! I don't support that!" But this? No. Be quiet, because you are not grasping the significance of just how spectacularly out of line Republicans are acting here.

another internet tough guy from the f right-wing

You enjoy pulling down your pants and showing your ass in every thread, I see...that's cool, though. I'd do the same if I had no reasonable or coherent remarks to post.

Oh, shut up...the Republicans are the only ones negotiating...with themselves. They're passing bills using regular procedures. There are no tricks or stunts. Meanwhile, the Democrats stomp their feet and cry and name call.

Okey dokey Annie Oakley. :2wave:

By the way, what the democrats are doing is an actual procedure.

All Reince Priebus needs to do is hold a press conference and state unequivocally that any GOP House member that signs this petition will be declared anathema and they will receive ZERO party funds next election cycle. The RNC will also instigate and back the opposition in primary challenges.

Then watch all these democrat dreams go down the crapper...

It's a trick, plain and simple

Well, whether you consider something as a legitimate procedure or a trick is quickly becoming moot, so I would get used to it if I were you. We're all learning things this week about what the other side is capable and willing to do. Personally, I think holding the budget hostage is worse, but I can see how that can be seen as bias due to my ultimately supporting the PPACA. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out.

My problem with the this whole thing is if the GOP succeeds here the precedent set can be catastrophic. Imagine anytime a party gets control of the House all they will have to do is decide to defund any law they don't like.

Oh stop...since when is passing budget bills "catastrophic?" Since when did Congress no longer have the authority to control the budget?????????????????????????????????????????????

So sad the hyperbole and invective people spew when they dont get their way...

Um, no...resurrecting pass bills to pass something that cannot otherwise be passed is a trick, a maneuver. Just like ACA was passed in the first place.

We have learned this week that the Democrats are perfectly capable of condemning their opponents for refusing to negotiate wile simultaneously refusing to even come to the table. At the same, we've learned that the Democrats will go so far as to tar their opponents as racists, terrorists, etc. simply because they disagree with the Democrats. That's what we have learned about the Democrats.

On the other hand, we have learned that the Republicans will actually pass bills, will compromise, and will not spam they're opponents with insults.

I'm just saying...relax.

Wow...you Democrats, liberals, and progressives just don't know jack squat about anything, do you? "Trick" is not my word here, it's from the article and it's precisely what is being done. Just like using a budget reconciliation trick to pass a non-budget bill like ACA. What are you having trouble here with???

You embraced the word, without reservation. Again, I reiterate with different words: forcing an up or down vote on a bill that is likely to pass is just good governance, not considered a trick. Keeping such a bill from coming to a vote through process maneuvering should be considered a 'trick'. Shutting down the government as leverage should be considered a 'trick' that results in immediate new elections to replace those legislators that cause it to happen, because they clearly have zero leadership skills. In other words, it shouldn't be permitted to happen.

Translation: "I consider all political maneauvering to be a trick unless it's being done by a Republican"

Just like they resorted to a "trick" to pass ACA and want to rely on a "trick" the to have the President raise the debt ceiling himself, I guess the Democrats will use a "trick" to get their way. Pathetic, but that's how they operate...

Trick? Why doesn't Boner just put the spending bill to an up/down vote? Seems like the "tricks" are being attempted by the GOP.

That is how they have always operated. Just look at their list of accomplishments.

Accomplishments? Not a word normally used to describe the results of a liberal political agenda. Far to wide a berth I fear.

I agree with your translation for him. I also think an edited version would suit well here...

You think me to be that much of a Democratic Party Partisan huh?

Or are you putting me in as saying that to Deezad?

'Don't know but it is interesting. I am not even sure, what sequester levels would mean for the country, the economy and the international sphere. But one thing seems clear. The President and his men must have been quite unprepared, if they are finding ways to get around the shutdown now. No boy scouts them.

That is how they have always operated. Just look at their list of accomplishments.

A discharge petition is hardly a trick, it requires the signatures of a absolute majority in the house In order to pass, the number required to pass a disscharge petition is 218,

Any Republican signing onto this should be thrown out of the party just before their constituents draw and quarter them.

Because party membership means marching in lock-step, and angering your voters is a capital offense?

Yes, marching in lock-step IS a requirement of any Conservative organization. IF the Republicans want to regain Conservative voters they need to start weeding out the Moderates and RINOs.

When your voters sent you there to do something specific and you ignore it, then YES it is a Capitol Offense.
