'Greatest generation' veterans sweep past barricades at memorial in their honor

It is sad that one cannot differentiate essential services (security) from non-essential (maintenance) staff....or realize one is still funded while the other is not in a US govt "shutdown".

Oh...ps....this is not unique to a particular administration.

Agreed. Cut the meat and hide the fat. And make it as painful as possible for the public. Are the White House tours back in operation yet, or do Obama's priorities deem his visit to Brunei and Indonesia more important?
 
That's a shame...those Honor Flights are an awesome way to say thank you to the Vets. I've been to a couple of the flights when they come back home and those guys deserve to get access to the memorial.

You know what's the real shame? That Democrats would close something that's already open, already unattended, then man it and barricade it so that veterans like your father would actually have to go past their barricades to get it.

....just to make an asinine, childish point.
 
Republican Reps should do the taping since they closed the monuments. And they bragged about it for months. And then bragged about it again this week. And then said Democrats did it. The schizoid Repubs are destroying the Nation

But I am the son of a WWII naval vet of the south pacific. So I will wrap the flag around this issue.
 
Ignoring the Republicans bragging about the shutdown over the weekend in drunken stupors at the House doesn't make it go away. America will not forget in 13 months, the new countdown.

HAH!! So explain to me why the memorial wasn't surrounded by a barricade or no trespassing signs on Monday but needs to be today.

Uh....the barricades went up on the 1st of Oct, Tuesday.

This event, WWII vets going past the barricades, happened yesterday, Tues.

FFS.....now you need a calender to understand when the shutdown began.
