Ted Cruz launches faux filibuster as Senate readies spending bill vote

as many that successfully register.

what are you trying to argue? That we should not do public financing because it would cost too much money.

No, I'm asking who will decide who and who doesn't receive the financing?

Thats exactly what Regan did!!

LOL, he raised use taxes, if you don't use the service you didn't have a tax increase. He cut personal income taxes and everyone benefited there. By the way it is REAGAN

Except that Cruz' filibuster, which technically was not a filibuster (confused yet? - LOL), lasted a little over an hour. What the hell was that? Was THAT the amount of time he was able to stand on his feet? Jesus!! I know people who stood in line for hours just to get an iPhone. Cruz - You are a *****. LOL.

Article is here.

You probably shouldn't be peddling lies. Cruz's speech last over 20 hours with the assistance of a handful of other Republicans asking questions and I believe one or two democrats making counterpoints.

Cruz has ZERO chance of being the Republican Presidential Nominee in my lifetime, let alone in 2016.

But that won't stop him from trying and a bunch of TPs from pushing for it.

He doesn't need to get the nomination to gut the GOP's chances for winning the White House. The RNC can do their utmost to cancel out the TP circus the 2012 primary turned into but that will only cause even more rancor in the party.

But even as the RNC limits exposure the next GOP primary will be choke full of entertainment value.... :peace

On taxes, sufficiently misleading as to be indistinguishable from a lie.

When you act like a douche, you're no better than the other douches.

Congrats, you're right up there with the Liberal douches.
If you haven't noticed, things are progressing to the point where we could be playing for keeps. I take that seriously - to some extent - and I'm not about to just play by the rules of a stacked political deck. Sorry if that offends you.

Last three Republican Presidents drove us right into the ditch but to here the righties tell it, Obama did all the damamge. Do not put up facts they dont set well with righties especcially when you say something about the B movie actor they cpnsider a God. Is it funny that the GOP worships Reagan and Heston? Do you understand the difference between a use tax and an income tax. How many times did he raise income taxes? You really are dedicated to a failed ideology and the question is why?

As of today, BHO is responsible for 36% of our total national debt throughout our history, more than any other POTUS. By the time he leaves office on 20 January 2017 he may be responsible for more than 50% of our national debt -- more than all other Presidents combined.:peace

Do you even know what a use tax is?

As the Germans said: "No Reagan, no Gorbachev." Gorby's rise to power was the last, desperate Soviet attempt to tweak an increment of extra productivity out of the Soviet economy, but that was a colossal blunder. The "little bit" of freedom let loose under Gorbachev was sufficiently corrosive as to destroy the USSR. Gorbachev blundered into the destruction of his state. A real sorcerer's apprentice.

He is vividly remembered in Russia today as the force that precipitated the Soviet collapse.
“Reagan bolstered the U.S. military might to ruin the Soviet economy, and he achieved his goal,” said Gennady Gerasimov, who served as top spokesman for the Soviet Foreign Ministry during the 1980s.

Reagan’s agenda toward Moscow started shortly after the start of his first term — and marked a major departure from the mild detente of the Jimmy Carter administration.
In 1981, Reagan backed his rhetoric with a trillion dollar defense buildup. U.S.-Soviet arms control talks collapsed, and the two nations targeted intermediate-range nuclear missiles at each other across the Iron Curtain in Europe.
The deployment of the U.S. missiles in Europe rattled the Kremlin’s nerves, because of the shorter time they needed to reach targets in the Soviet Union compared to intercontinental missiles deployed in the United States.
In an even bigger shock to the Kremlin, Reagan in 1983 launched an effort to build a shield against intercontinental ballistic missiles involving space-based weapons.
The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), dubbed “Star Wars,” dumped the previous doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction that assumed that neither side would start a nuclear war because it would not be able to avoid imminent destruction.
Even though Reagan’s “Star Wars” never led to the deployment of an actual missile shield, it drew the Soviets into a costly effort to mount a response. Many analysts agree that the race drained Soviet coffers and triggered the economic difficulties that sped up the Soviet collapse in 1991.
“Reagan’s SDI was a very successful blackmail,” Gerasimov told The Associated Press. “The Soviet Union tried to keep up pace with the U.S. military buildup, but the Soviet economy couldn’t endure such competition.”:peace

Excellent article but one that the liberals will ignore only to come back in a few days saying the same thing over and over again hoping that eventually their claims will come true. I particularly like this part of the article

When Democrats or media embrace Reagan for “raising taxes X number of times,” they are usually engaging in willful obfuscation. This is because they know that when most people hear the words, “tax hike,” they naturally assume you mean raising income taxes. But tax rates (both nominal and effective) dropped dramatically across-the-board during Reagan’s tenure.

Not only did the top individual income tax rate go from 70 to 28 percent! — but the tax code was also indexed for inflation (this is a big deal, because inflation had heretofore pushed people into higher tax brackets — a double whammy.)

And then again isn't it amazing that personal income tax revenue increased over 60% with those income tax rate cuts? How about that? I always have been told by liberals that tax cuts cut govt. revenue not increasing them 60%

Amazing record

When inaugurated, Reagan inherited a nation with 16 tax brackets — ranging from marginal rates of 14 percent to 70 percent. By 1989, that was down to two brackets — with marginal rates of 15 percent and 28 percent.

What is it about liberalism that creates this kind of loyalty? You obviously have never researched the Reagan record and buy what the left tells you. Why? You seem to be emotionally invested in liberalism and I don't understand it. When proven wrong, accept it, apologize, and move on. One of these days that light bulb is going to go off in that head of yours and hopefully the liberal elites haven't destroyed you completely before it does.
