Ted Cruz launches faux filibuster as Senate readies spending bill vote

Perhaps his plan is to stay in the news for as long as possible so he can later run for president.
Of course this is an impossibility because not only did his father fight on the site of Fidel Castro,
he's not even a United States citizen ---- just like Mr. Obama.

So, he was actually born in Hawaii too?

Nah---Calgary. Probably grew up listening to Ann Murray and Gordon Lightfoot.
That alone should disqualify someone for the WH.

He did? He's not on the government provided health care plan that the rest of Congress has? Are you sure?

Apparently his wife is a top executive with Goldman Sachs and is covered under his wife's plan. He probably has similar if not better coverage. Plus he has the back up eligibility with the top of the line insurance that he gets from Congress.

Did I say insurance from his wife that is a top executive at Goldman Sachs? Yup.

Nice to have top insurance with a top backup plan.

Yes, that must be nice.

No wonder he doesn't think we need health care reform.

I don't think a govt. that has generated a 17 trillion dollar debt should be trying to reform anything until they get the federal debt under control. Why would anyone believe bureaucrats that created that debt are going to implement any program that would reduce that debt?

You do have a point there, but consider this: A large part of that enormous debt is a direct result of having the most expensive health care system in the world.

So, the next order of business needs to be further reform, this time with the goal of decreasing costs.

Why hold against him what most all of these congresspeople have?

The bottom line is this....they think we should have it, but they want to be exempt from it. Period.

I think something like this would have been an issue that crossed party lines. Congress forcing a heathcare system on us and then exempting themselves. Apparently, the left is much deeper in the big government tank than I though if they are willing to bend over for this without a complaint.

Not according to the line items in the budget, healthcare costs are mostly bourn by the states and not the federal tax dollars. Tell me where healthcare costs are in these line items?

Expenses

Defense
International Affairs
Gen. Science, Space
Energy
Natural resources/env
Agriculture
Commerce/Housing Cr
Transportation
Community Dev
Education/Train/Social
Health
Medicare
Income Security
Social Security
Veterans Benefits
Justice
General Govt.
Net Interest

It is amazing the line of bs the bureaucrats give us, on both sides but on different issues. I believe it is the role of the Federal Govt. to PROVIDE for the common defense and PROMOTE Domestic welfare, not provide for it.

Is that what you said before getting us into two long term wars? I at least understood Afghanistan. Iraq? A war of choice before we really had "mission accomplished" in Afghanistan?

It is unnerving to no end that these debt concerns are when the other guy is in office.

19 hours...

He spent 19 hours talking **** because he just wants to harm people according to progressives..

Maybe - just maybe - killing everyone isn't the goal???

Maybe there is another side of the coin????

No that's right to progressives Cruz wants to kill you and your babies and only cares about corporate profits as your talking heads say..

If republicans hated you or wanted you to die from infection the would support and pass Obamacare...

Wait until your kid attempts to make a Youtube video and breaks his/her arm and is stuck 18 hours behind the idiot who is next because he was stabbed in the face and body several times and shot in the head...

Nasty healthcare....

Oh, good lord, there was 5.7 trillion in debt before Bush took office, 1 trillion was added due to 9/11, the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars cost 1.4 trillion dollars over 10 years or 140 billion a year. Bush left office with a 10.6 trillion dollar debt that is 17 trillion today. You people really need to stop buying the liberal talking points. Further the Iraq War ended with the status of Forces agreement in October 2008 so please explain to me how the Iraq war contributed to the 6.4 trillion debt Obama has added. I cannot believe how brainwashed some people are and the lies that they buy just because they want to believe in the ideology.

Apparently someone who hasn't learned a thing is school looking for attention and baiting. Come up with something significant if you really want me to address your idiotic posts. You have learned absolutely nothing

The People's House - American Government

Umm, I know what it is Comrade Conservative for it is the House of Representatives. Way to get butt hurt over a "idiotic post." Is it because you believe in Communism, Comrade? Nobody calls it the People's House.

No, that is true but everytime the Democrats talk about control of the Senate the counter to that is the people's house being under control of the Republicans. That is more indicative of the direction the country is taking vs. the Senate and the WH. Too many big cities controlling state wide elections. Capturing the big cities can carry a lot of states for national candidates but our Founders believed in having the power closest to the people and that would be the Representatives in the House

Do you think the cost of those wars stopped when the troops come home?

Do you think the cost of those wars stopped when the troops come home?

No, but the cost was absorbed in the budget under Defense, no supplemental's. Do you think because the war ended the troops would have been disbanded.

I am speaking to the physically and emotionally wounded veterans who have come back and well need substantial care for life.

You are speaking about something you do not understand, the budget and the deficits. Tell me how much of the 6.4 trillion dollars Obama has added to the debt is due to Iraq? Here are the budget line items so tell me how much of those line items is attributed to Iraq and to the deficits Obama has generated?

Defense 680.4
International Affairs 47.2
Gen. Science, Space 29.2
Energy 14.8
Natural resources/env 41.8
Agriculture 19.7
Commerce/Housing Cr 40.3

Social Security 773.3
Veterans Benefits 124.6

The amounts at the side were 2012 line items

Medicare and VA benefits? I'm not sure where Medicaid fits in that list.

Amen to that.

Amen to that.

Medicare was always self funding just like SS and was never to be part of the budget. LBJ changed that when he created the unified budget. Medicare should never be part of the issue. Medicaid is part of HHS and also gets funding from the states. VA is a line item in the budget and also includes military veterans from all the wars. The problem that liberals have is they want to blame the debt on the wars and as the line items show that just isn't the case. Much of the problem is Obama spending too much and not putting enough people back to work with a pro growth economic policy. You don't pay for a 3.77 trillion dollar budget with 22 million unemployed/under employed/discouraged workers not paying much if any in Federal income taxes

But in another thread you were whining about how the congress hasn't passed a budget in years. How can Obama spending be out of control if there has been no change in four years?

No, you don't, and we won't.

Medicare and SS may not have been supposed to be a part of the budget, but the fact is, they are a part of it.

We used to say that two supposdtas and a dime would get you a cup of coffee, but that's out of date.

Now, two supposdtas and five bucks will get you a grande latte mocha with fru frus on top.

Yet Obama and Congress continue to spend money on things like the Stimulus that stimulated what? The takeover of GM/Chrysler, the supplementals for Afghanistan, the implementation of Obamacare. I could go on but for some reason I don't see much use with you
