One man's ObamaCare nightmare[W:51]

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

My wife and I had Humana as private insurance- high deductible (5K), no on going health care issues, and no riders to cover the high deductible such as AFLAC.

550 a month.

We asked about a plan with riders to cover cancer and serious illness (the AFLAC style riders) well they claimed to not offer such but could put together a plan with other insurance carriers- 830 a month IIRC.

We now have a different company with riders, a dental plan, and a vision care thing.

343 a month.

You don't take the gubmint's word without question, why do you take Humana's as if it is the 11th commandment????

Like Pappa John's and that Florida franchise owner of I think it was Denny's.... They claim one thing, but simple math shows they are just being petty, partisan asses....

One man's ObamaCare nightmare | Fox News

OMG one person who was buying bargain basement health insurance has their rates go up? Yes, and what happens when you get sick on bargain health insurance before obamacare? Oh yeah, they deny your claim and slap you into high risk and drop your coverage. Now they will have to pay and keep on covering you. So the healthy customer insurance scam where they charge you until you claim and then refuse to cover you is over. now they actually have to provide some specific levels of care, and they cannot take money for the illusion that they will be there when you get ill because now they have to be there. 300 dollars a month family insurance was a scam to begin with. The guy should be thrilled no one ever needed it.

Then he doesn't even shop around for a better deal? Come on, go find a lower price insurance carrier. Of course they are going to tell you everyone is the same price, because they don't want you to go shopping around for the best deal. That guy is a friggen moron. They have four people on the insurance. You were not going to touch a real plan for under a grand before obamacare anyway. Oh, and the article fails to mention they will get subsidies to pay for it so the taxes they are paying will go directly to their health care and not to some other thing. What is the cost after the subsidies? Oh, of course dumb ass faux news doesn't mention that. Wouldn't want to let people know he might end up paying the same thing or less in the end anyway after he gets done.

Just more manipulative BS from the right on how obamacare is going to suck.

And how would you know who a petty partisan ass was?

First it is who a petty partisan ass IS...

Second because they have hair cuts....

a lot like yours

Fact is 'Pappa' John was proven to be incorrect in his claims of how much he would have to add to the price of a pizza. Corporate Denny's was quick to renounce the Florida whiner about the cost.

Unlike the OP I have been using private, non job subsidized healthcare insurance probably for as long you have been alive. Under 500 bucks for ANY family of four plan is either a farce or a one in a million plan. (Like I said I had a Humana plan, which FYI is a HUGE conglomerate of insurance companies and it sucked ass)

The article tells us so little it isn't worth consideration- just what was the coverage of the original plan? Just what is the new coverage? Did the policy holder/Faux Noise do ANY research to see if Humana's claim was true? Did the policy holder do any research to see if other companies have far better for far less?????

Fact free CON game, ya can tell by the smell....:peace

The haircut joke I stole from Ron White's redneck comedy tour routine... gotta love the redneck humor... I don't care who you are- THAT'S funny....

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

I wonder how many cases Faux News had to dig through to find the perfect case they were looking for that supports their well established agenda as a horribly biased conservative "news entertainment" show. This is really like someone making a thread over a headline on The Daily Show. Lets be honest, they do their best to tell you what you want to hear without lying outright, but the former is far more important than the latter.

One man's ObamaCare nightmare | Fox News

Wow, one case? Well, we should just scrap it all then and any other bill that affects one person negatively. I mean we can't have any bills that affect ANYONE negatively now can we?

In all seriousness, I don't like Obamacare and think it should be scrapped, but not for the reason that is listed in your article. NO program in it's history has not had the record of being perfectly positive to EVERYONE.

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

There seems to be confusion on the left in here about what 'an example' is....Further if you watched the report, you'd have picked up on the line in the report that basically said that the coverage is going up because of what the ACA mandates now must be covered over and above what they possibly didn't have to pick up before. I can see that.

The bottom line is that with all of the delay's, waivers, and pure incompetence put forth so far in this unworkable law, the whole thing should be delayed to allow time for real inclusion of both sides to work out the horrible parts of this law. Will they do that? Probably not...The demo's don't want the repubs to have any say in it, and the repubs don't want it to become yet another entitlement that can never be adjusted, or taken away.

So I'm suppose to believe you, anonymous socialist promoting his / her political views and not published reports of people losing their insurance and being forced to pay more for your beloved govt? I think you made your numbers up to promote your agenda. I don't find you trustworthy or honest but a partisan hack probably living off the hard work and proceeds of others.

When I first read your location I saw it as Denial Junction...

First these are not published reports but published CLAIMS... no one has investigated the Humana claim the increase is due to new insurance laws. No one has verified the new policy is the same as the old policy.

Take a minute out of the Denial loop and phone an insurance company or two and inquire about policies for yourself. My Wife and I did.

People have investigated 'Pappa' Johns ridiculous claims on the subject and the millionaire had to back back down.

My view on you is you are a young, full of yourself CON Cool-aid drinker. Faux Noise presented a VERY select set of numbers with ZERO verification. You take a letter from Humana as if Moses himself gave it to you on a stone tablet. THAT you believe hook, line and sinker...

You don't like my counterpoint so rather than attack the numbers with some of your own, you attack me.

Sorry young man I have worked very hard for everything I have. Still working hard, still making my own way. Still believe in the social safety net even though I have not used it.

But for the CON game to work you must deny the real world and substitute a false one... I am a Progressive not socialist... just like many other CONs you seem to try and make people fit your mold rather than see the reality.

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

LOL....the Repubs are shaking in their boots trying to keep the ACA from taking effect because they know that when it does, it is going to cover thousands of Americans who didn't have coverage before....and people are going to see that the GOP has been engaging in propoganda and scare tactics. This is just another nail in the GOP coffin in ever hoping to avoid becoming a regional political party.

Blue....just like everywhere else....despite the Republicans attemps to convince everyone that it is green. Its actually quite comical from a political junkie perspective watching the gamesmanship the GOP is engaging in....and thinking that they are scoring points when every poll out there says that America sees right through their games. The tea baggers are once again going to bring the once proud GOP down again. This is nothing but good news for the Democrats.

It's not gamesmanship you knucklehead. Obamacare is a big pile of crap, and even if fully funded doesn't begin to address what's really wrong with healthcare and that's costs. Until they address the costs of healthcare, it will continue to suck us dry..

All right, Mr. "Very Conservative": How would you bring down health care costs? It appears the Republicans in Congress have one alternative to Obamacare, which is "do nothing." I'm asking you to suggest something. What's your idea?

Quite simply becuse you used personal claims to illustrate published "claims" were false. Yet we have no evidence of your personal claims being accurate. You might as well be Assad and taken for granted. I'm sorry but you are a political hack with a socialist agenda. You might want to call yourself progressive cause its sounds better but you aren't - you want a socialist system of people working hard to give you things you think you have a right too without hard work. Its pathetic. Capitalism has its ugly attributes but its done more for mankind then any other system in the shortest period of time possible, but since its obviously passed you by its time to regulate it, tax it and give some of its success to you. This is how all "progressive/socialist" seem to think. I find you to be nothing more than a political hack using made up personal numbers to call others wrong. Others who are willing to publish reports no more valid than your own - but for some really stupid /silly reason we're suppose to believe YOU? Guess what - I DON'T.

BS. The Republicans in the House introduced a replacement you just don't like it because it doesn't take from hard working people and give to you the lazy who won't work for it.

One man's ObamaCare nightmare

Andy and Amy Mangione of Louisville, Ky. and their two boys are just the kind of people who should be helped by ObamaCare. But they recently got a nasty surprise in the mail.

"When I saw the letter when I came home from work," Andy said, describing the large red wording on the envelope from his insurance carrier, "(it said) 'your action required, benefit changes, act now.' Of course I opened it immediately."

It had stunning news. Insurance for the Mangiones and their two boys, which they bought on the individual market, was going to almost triple in 2014 --- from $333 a month to $965.

The insurance carrier made it clear the increase was in order to be compliant with the new health care law.

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

Laughing my butt off at the liberals in this thread.

Who remembers who told this lie when the disaster called Obamacare was not being debated in Congress:
"You should know that once we have fully implemented, you’re going to be able to buy insurance through a pool so that you can get the same good rates as a group that if you’re an employee at a big company you can get right now — which means your premiums will go down.” Here's a hint. The man who told this lie is as far from a conservative as a person can get.

Well, we're just about at full implementation and report after report show prices going up. And that's for those lucky enough to still have insurance because of this disaster.

Re: One man's ObamaCare nightmare

All right, Mr. "Very Conservative": How would you bring down health care costs? It appears the Republicans in Congress have one alternative to Obamacare, which is "do nothing." I'm asking you to suggest something. What's your idea?

Allow hospitals and insurance companies to shop for drugs outside of the US. Provide a matching healthcare savings plan that begins at birth and one that can be passed on without tax to family when you die. if you allow people to shop for their healthcare with their own money, costs will come down. Fix payouts to malpractice suits via tort reform, and reinstate loser pays civil reform. (not just in healthcare either but in all law suits). Allow insurance companies to offer healthcare in any state they wish. Insurance should only be provided for catastrophic care, NOT emergency care or none life threatening care. Begin a national registry for caregivers and physicians where people can simply look up a name of a doctor or service and read reviews on their level of care, decide for themselves whether the costs outweigh the risks for any given procedure. There are a lot of ways to reduce costs, but the main goal is to take the power away from the beaurocracy and place it back squarely in the hands of the individual. Phase the healthcare savings plan in, beginning now, and phase out governments direct involvement. If you've been a loser all your life and lived mostly off the government dole, you don't get to finish your life in a fancy nursing home. You get to die. this mentality that we the tax payers need to protect everyone is just foolish. Sorry NOT everyone deserves our charity. There really are a bunch of losers in our country and they don't get jack **** when it comes to expensive care. They get the basic, and if anything that's all government should be offering. Government paid healthcare should always be the worst option as an incentive to NOT be in a position to ever require it.

Alright Mr. Undisclosed. what say you?

Your words define petty partisan hack quite well. NO effort to check ANYTHING Faux Noise says. Refusal to believe anything anyone says when it goes against your mindset.

Pappa John was shown to be a partisan hack- but you refuse to admit that. I can only think you are clueless what privately purchased healthcare costs and the HUGE differences in cost, coverage, co-pays, networks, deductibles and what is covered as approved treatments.

But you keep making a strawman figure to argue against, you are clueless and speak the language of a petty partisan hack.
