House Bill Defunds Health Care

It depends on the situation. If you're going to fight a battle, do it because the risk / reward is favorable. The risk here is immediate damage to the country in exchange for angry conservatives to get what? Satisfaction that we all had to listen to their tantrum? When its over things go back to the way they were before it started minus the economic losses we sustained. Its a lose / lose.

There is a legitimate disagreement as to which policies would harm the country. One already has been proven to do so...

LOLOLOL
Friday night before Colorado State at home?
You guys play every other weekend all season.
The games are played one at a time, and each team creates its own identity...

What? Yeah shutting down the government has been proven to be harmful to the country.

Are you suggesting Obamacare has been proven to overall be harmful to the country?

The game was a gift for a former offensive coordinator who is now head coach...

Is a law a policy?
Since the Repubs have already stated their wish to kill Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security,
this would set a precedent NO President would allow.
I now must call it a tie for first between Voting Wrongs Acts and Defunding Laws.

Let's all take a deep breath and remember that THIS IS THE YEAR 2013. We didn't get flying cars, but did anyone think that at this point we still couldn't figure out an operational way of providing people with health care when they need it?

IMHO it has little to do with logistics and everything to do with maximizing profits and conservative ideology of making sure nobody gets anything for "free". Healthcare profits are absolutely fantastic for those on top so they will fight to the death to keep it that way. Conservatives are already in a tizzy over people getting food for free, the prospect of them getting more or better healthcare has them even more outraged.

I'm suggesting that a 35 year low in labor participation along with more part-time work has been a detriment to the overall economy. It is also noteworthy that companies are now beginning to offload their employees to the newly created, although not ready for prime time, exchanges...

health insurance makes profits when people don't get sick. they are gambling on the fact that someone will not get sick.

Insurance companies DO NOT GAMBLE. They have actuaries that calculate the the risk and they use that to decide how much the premium would cost. And they do expect that there will be some cost in coverage.

The 35 year decline of the middle class has everything to do with unrestrained globalization. Until you fix that, the problem will remain.

When conservatives attack food stamps, or unemployment benefits, or expanded health care, because it will hut employment, they are talking about the bandaids that have been placed over the problem, not the problem itself. Removing those things will only hurt people without fixing anything.

House Bill Cuts Health Funds, Raising Odds of U.S. Shutdown

By JONATHAN WEISMAN and ASHLEY PARKER
Published: September 18, 2013

WASHINGTON — House Republican leaders — bowing to the demands of their conservative wing — will put to a vote on Friday a stopgap spending measure that would strip all funding from President Obama’s signature health care law, increasing the likelihood that the government will shut down in two weeks.

So what's going on here? Another defeat Obamacare vote? And will this shut down the government like in the 90's? If so, will it come back to bite the Republicans in the a**?

Why the urgency to defeat this "train wreck"? If that's what this is, why not let it fail and bring down its Democratic authors? Republicans have shown they can play politics with the welfare of the American people by threatening the full faith and credit of the country, so why not let the law destroy itself, then sweep in and take the credit for predicting it?

My question is, do Republicans fear that ACA will not be the disaster they predict, or even worse, a success, and are trying to sabotage it before they look bad for opposing it? Or is this just a stunt to appease their radical right wing? "Obamacare delenda est"?

They do. Of course, the interesting irony in this is substantially all of the funding of Obama care is in mandatory spending part of the budget. It is outside of the domain of congress, so this is an exercise in complete silliness.

Obama care was passed and signed into law in 2010. What is it about Regressives that makes them live in the past?

Just a reality check for Cons. Eisenhower completed his two terms (and you would never elect him today, anyway, so whats the fascination?); Reagan is dead (and you would never elect him today, anyway, so whats the fascination?); and Obamacare is the law of the land. None of these things is going to change.

The oncoming train wreck that is the ACA should be stopped before it hits the wall because when it does we all lose.

Insurance companies DO NOT GAMBLE. They have actuaries that calculate the the risk and they use that to decide how much the premium would cost. And they do expect that there will be some cost in coverage.

Insurance companies have been known to gladly take their customers money in the form of premiums, then once they need their insurance for an operation or condition, suddenly the insurance company will unearth a pre-existing condition and drop their customer. According to them, eczema and acne are a preexisting condition.

Yes, I get it. They are a business, and business must make money to exist. But when they go to such lengths do deny their services to those that need it the most, doesn't that say something?

In my opinion, the private health insurance industry is like the oil industry. Both essentially belong in the 20th century and don't make much sense in the future.

Not according to the Republicans I see speak.
They are the ones pulling the House strings.
They won't be happy until we are pre-FDR.
Good luck to all of us then.

No one is trying to kill those programs linc...

Show me where any prominent office holder has suggested anything like what you're putting forth...

The oncoming train wreck has already wrecked.
Now the tracks are yet to be cleared from the 2011 TEAwreck, and the ACA is about to run into it,
as per the likes of Sen. Burr(R-NC), no RINO.
The oncoming train wreck that is the ACA should be stopped before it hits the wall because when it does we all lose.

Is a law a policy?

Or is policy law? Either can be scraped at any time. Nothing is cast in stone.

Since the Repubs have already stated their wish to kill Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security,

I've never heard of that, maybe you can put up some proof to support your statement. Otherwise your just filling up a page of ink with BS.

this would set a precedent NO President would allow.

Obama would not allow it, but another president with views to save this country would.

I now must call it a tie for first between Voting Wrongs Acts and Defunding Laws.

Yes your for voting fraud and living under laws that are job killers. I have always said, liberals have never been about jobs, but are for killing jobs and making people dependent on government. Liberal nanny state, dependency on government, is the liberal way.

Others argue that it will be more good than bad.

Doesn't change the problem here that the GOP wants to shut down the government in protest.

Can you show which party would be definitively responsible? I don't think you can...

Another way to put it is the democrats want to shut down government over job killing Obamacare.

the GOP is to blame for everything as the One
is above it all? After 5 years he's not responsible for anything!

Obamacare passed whether you like it or not.

You think you can pin this on the Democrats? Good luck buddy, I haven't heard even the most fervent conservatives suggest this.

Oh wow another one. I guess I shouldn't be surprised you guys would try this.
