Re: House Bill Defunds Health Care

Let me tell you guys something else about the way mandatory health care in Massachusetts. A lot of jobs here are categorized as "temporary" jobs. We have tons of temp agencies, and a lot of companies only hire employees through these agencies.

I think that has a LOT to do with the health care bill. I imagine there will be a lot more businesses only hiring employees on a temporary basis because of this. I think that's one of the negative unintentional consequences that will occur because of Obama care.

I don't understand why they refuse to do tort reform. Malpractice insurance for just a private physician costs over 150,000 dollars a year. Imagine what it costs a hospital, a surgeon? THAT is one of the main reasons we have to pay so much for healthcare services.

This entire bill is just useless. Basically it just forces you to buy insurance from anyone, some businesses are getting waivers, more people are going to be on the Medicaid roles. This entire monstrosity of a bill certainly does not address some of the most expensive problems of our health care system.

Imagine the boost that would be given to business if the burden of health care were to be lifted off of the shoulders of employers.

Imagine what such an action would do to employment figures.

It would be better than any tax break could ever be, and could even end the recession without a huge infusion of government money.

Ah, gotcha - yeah, no argument there. Basic faulty premise.

No doubt. But it also raises the issue of how we got into this mess in the first place with employment-based healthcare. It never ceases to amaze me the truism that government is the only entity that propagates itself by proposing solutions to problems it first created, with new solutions that will eventually need solutions themselves - thereby ensuring the continual need for, and growth of government.

A Nurse Practitioner could have dealt with my injury but the place was deserted so he handled it, it wasn't long after that in Phoenix that most of the ER's in those parts of town closed because they were flooded with non-paying illegals.
I'm quite familiar with Phoenix. I've been in several ER's there. I've seen the Illegals in them. I've hired Illegals too. An example: Paddock Pools, they had placed a small sign in the front yard, was re-plastering a pool across the street and I needed the same service. I went over to 'chat' with them and found that none were direct Paddock employees. A truck had the Paddock name on it, but other equipment was not marked. I contracted directly with them to do my pool. There was one American, not a Paddock employee, he delivered the plaster and provided some translation, when they did my pool. A great job was done. Now what American was left out? Gee, Paddock getting the approximate 50% profit for providing the same workers for my pool. So, if I contracted with Paddock and one of the Illegals was injured on my project who would have paid for their treatment? Paddock? BTW Paddock has been doing pools for over 50 years. So you are paying for Paddock, etc. 'employees' ER care.
Keeping the Illegals out would require a complete culture change in Phoenix. The costs of getting a lot of things done would go up a lot. A lot of conservatives use Illegals in their businesses; just a bit hypocritical.

Right, so to the extent that Republicans are following the platform, they arent RINOs. People are just upset becuase they are no longer idealistic conservatives. So I call them CINOs. THey say they are conservative, but they arent. They are Republicans.

The purpose of the military is not to redistribute wealth, so its not socialist. You should have chosen social security, medicare, etc. These are actual socialist programs which Republicans generally support.

Methinks before one calls their opponent's talk "nutty" they should consider their own talk first (and grammar, and spelling, and punctuation).

I, for one, would love to hear the explanation how the military is "many forms of socialism."
