consent of the governed Pffft
No, I'd think any rational review of the Republicans objection to Obamacare would find the concern is not that it will be a success, but as the Obama Administration has proved through all it's waivers and wave offs, it will be the disaster that has been predicted.
But I'm not one of those, at least not in this thread, so I'm not real sure why you are debating with me.And I am responding to people who want to blame the Republicans for their action. Turn about is fair play after all.
The GOP isn't going anywhere. While I have basically no use or respect for the party itself, to think it's going to be reduced to a footnote in history is simply false. The USA will survive, but I don't believe that the GOP will still be around very long.
Another Democrat Calls ObamaCare Implementation a "Real Disaster" - Katie PavlichAs the Obamacare disaster rolls along, it's Democrats, not Republicans, who are expressing doubts over the bill. First, co-Obamacare author and Democratic Senator Max Baucus called it a train wreck. Then last week after the administration said it would postpone the employer mandate for a year, Democratic Senator Tom Harkin questioned the legality of the delay and now, California Democrat and Insurance Commissioner David Jones is warning the new exchanges could lead to rampant identity theft and fraud.
Why isn't anyone talking about the "bi-partisan vote" in the House?

And why are so many convinced this thing is going to go down in the Senate? If it gets filibustered as Cruz promises, that means they are going to need 60 votes.
Eighteen Democratic U.S. Senators and senators-elect sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last year calling for a “delay in the implementation” of the medical device tax in Obamacare.

And what about the Democrat Senators that have come out calling the implementation "a real disaster" including the key author of the bill.

What will more than likely happen is there will be an offer to delay implementation of the bill and possibly defund parts of it until they address specific issues. And hopefully that delay will be long enough to change the face of the Senate and a regime change in the White House.

Again with the sappy emotionalism! Put a sock in it for a moment (please) and tell me now where THAT argument fit into the original push for government-run health care?
But before you answer that question - please answer my first one: What makes you think the federal government is the proper entity to do this? What? Or, why MUST we accept the Democrat premise that government-run health care is the ONLY way to "fix" ____________? Insert 1) pre-existing conditions. 2) Affordablility. 3) Guarantee of life-saving treatment.
Seriously, you need to answer that question. Why do you accept the government's premise that it, and it alone is capable of quelling all your fears surrounding your health care, that you (and I) MUST accept this premise??
Nope. The lone Republican voted No because he opposes continuing resolutions, stop gap bills like this one which funds the government for months at a time. The two Democrats that voted yes, voted against Obamacare from the beginning. One republican votes againist the bill, so does that mean the opposition to the bill was bipartisan
The governed do vote them into office, and keep reelecting them.
We won't but these are things that can be done instead of having a system that is going to be run by the most hated department in this country. When rationing occurs and it will occur there will be riots over this and that department will experience the Peoples wrath.
The ACA is bad law we need to look over options that do not require government taking over the health care system.
The governed do vote them into office, and keep reelecting them.
It's always gonna be the fault of of the powerless GOP?The extension is passed. Now, if it gets stopped along the way, because it doesn't include somebodies pet project, who is to blame?

Republicans have voted 40 times to defund the affordable care act.
I would understand shutting down the government over somthing like the NSA or the patroit act, but this obsession with defunding the affordable care act is turning the Republican Party into a single issue party like the prohibition party.
Yes, to someone ignorant of our gov't.But a very accurate one.
Actually it's an attempt to exercise legislative power that they DO have. Last time I checked, Dems were the ones who passed this bill (ACA) without even reading in the first place. If it were not for that, we wouldn't be in this predicament. As it is, we now have a healthcare system that is almost fully implemented that hurts the country. It is far more expensive, exclusionary, and oppressive than was advertised. In addition, it's putting Americans out of work. Had THAT not happened, the House would have no such beef to pick. It's an effort to usurp legislative power that the GOP does not possess, and the general public is going to realize that. Anyone who blames this potential shutdown on Democrats is already a partisan hack and their opinion was never going to change on the subject.
I'm quite aware how our government works.Yes, to someone ignorant of our gov't.
The Senate will not pass this bill, and the leaders of the House know it. All they are doing is playing political games.
So before you get care for a heart attack you must prove that you can and will pay for your care? Describe the process for that. Thanks.Your sob story has nothing to do with what is legal. Your govt does not have the power to require that a hospital (and therefore ME) provide healthcare.
I'm quite aware how our government works.
Chess is battle of wills and strategy. I'm not convinced the current Republican leadership is willing to see a government shutdown, nor is it willing to allow the MSM to spin the cause should it come to that.
