Austrian police have found a body they believe is a man suspected of shooting dead three policemen and a paramedic.The charred body was discovered at the farmhouse where the man lived near Melk, Lower Austria, after special forces stormed the building.
Commandos searched the house, backed by about 100 police, as the suspect was reportedly heavily armed. Link.

Possibly the end of the story - however there are reports that police are carefully searching the whole area where Alois Huber lived as there are many buildings with secret doors and hidden rooms. The body found is as yet unidentified.

The man first shot two policemen as they tried to arrest him in woodland in the province of Lower Austria near Vienna late on Monday, said a police spokesman.The paramedic was killed as he treated a wounded officer at the scene.

Police said the man then fled in a stolen police car to his home near the city of Melk, about 70 km (40 miles) away, taking a third policeman with him as a hostage.

That officer was later found dead in the car, the Austria Press Agency reported, though the force was not immediately available to confirm the report.

Dozens of Cobra special forces were surrounding the building where the man had opened fire. Link.

3 policemen killed and a 70 year old paramedic who had won all sorts of honours for a long career.

I'd say he's pretty resourceful - his house had a built in secret room and I guess many buildings of the era would too. (historical persecution escape rooms)
