Active gunmen in US navy Yard [W:69, 700]

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

They are qualifying the possibility of other shooters.

May have been guys who were authorized to shoot.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

The Washington Navy Yard was declared a "gun free zone" a few years ago.

In fact after Obama ordered the bolts of the Marines rifles to be removed, civilian police now provide LE on the yard.

Well, as I said, this clearly doesnt involve guns, and somehow it probably demonstrates that more guns are needed. Sorry, not probably. Definitey. It definitely shows how gun control is bad. And guns arent related to any of this. Certainly not. And you just know Obama is behind this.

I think maybe I'll turn on the radio and get information about the story now.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

From what is being said, there are more than two shooters, one of the perpetrators has been killed, therefore it doesn't sound like a disgruntled employee. Terrorist related possibly.

If it was another terrorist attack on a U.S. military installation President Obama would have already declared it violence in the workplace and that Al Qaeda was on the run and was being decimated.

Wait a minute, Obama was given a second chance and was re elected so he doesn't have to lie any more.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

Aren't the offices of the NCIS located there?

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

in all seriousness, this is a sad day for the victims and families.

at this time we do not know the motive of the shooter(s).

I won't be sad if there are more shooters that the police just take them out. Would save the tax payers the cost of a lengthy trial.

Done with your daily dose of sarcasm now?

When an area is declared a Gun Free Zone, the only people who obey it are the good guys. Somehow, having a Navy Yard declared gun free sounds ridiculous. How did the stop the first one? Shot him. Throwing a book of rules at him probably wouldn't have had the same effect.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

I look forward to more vomit inducing gun control measures because of this.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

I have just as much disdain for hate mongering media as you do, but it was the first thing which popped into my mind as well. This is a place with ties to the government, and the shooting is coming on the heels of a message from the Al-Qaeda promoting "lone wolf" attacks on US soil.

It's not an unreasonable conclusion to jump to.

I have no real issue with the mind jumping to that. I think that's somewhat natural.

I do have issues with people:

1. Jumping to any conclussion in these type of situations and then arguing things as if that assumption was actually fact (Happens both with muslims and Tea Partiers given the circumstance at hand)

2. The conclussions that some inevitably attempt to draw or infer OFF of the original conclussion. IE..."Hm, I think Muslims probably did this. This is why we must be distrusting and check out ALL muslims!" or "Hm, I think a Tea Partier probably did this. Just more evidence why Tea Partiers are racists that hate the government!"

Also, I'm a horrible person because I heard this and the first thing MY brain went to were NCIS jokes...

They don't look like happy campers over on MSNBC and CNN. It's being reporter that the shooter wasn't white and no Tea Party connection has been found.

I agree. We have so many laws that makes robbing, killing, etc a crime. Doesn't really deter the bad guys.

It worked in Die Hard III.:)

Agreed. I was being sarcastic. I am also impressed by how much the response improved when Hillary didn't have to be consulted, as was the case in Benghazi. Has Susan Rice come out to blame a YouTube video yet?

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

A 50-year-old Navy employee whose employment status had recently changed has been identified as the deceased gunman, ABC News reported.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

Despite all the speculation in the media coverage about the terrible tragedy at the Washington Navy Yard, the following are among the only facts known so far:

1. There were casualties, both injuries and deaths
2. A suspected gunman was killed

Whether any other persons were involved in the shootings and the possible motive or motives are unknown.

In any case, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this shooting, along with their families.

I would add

3) Guns and availability of guns have absolutely nothing to do with this, except for the fact that this could have been prevented by more guns.

mmmmm....Sad situation....MSNBC is now reporting that someone gained entry using a stolen badge, so reports of who did it are still unclear.

Those are also my sentiments. We have to wait and see what the investigation reveals. There's a lot of speculation right now.

Moderator's Warning:
This is a specific topic to discussing the breaking news that is occuring. This is now the second post you've made that doesn't actually deal with, talk about, or debate the topic directly but is simply throwing out baiting one liners in a trolling fashion. It needs to stop, now.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

Raise your hand if when you heard the news the first thing you thought was Muslim. Not saying it is, but that was my first thought.

I heard about this hours ago - watched some coverage, then saw the thread here. This is the first time 'Muslim' has entered my mind.

I think it is more likely to be one of those Christians you here so much about. I understand there are lots of them in the U.S.

There is even a possibility, outside possibility I admit, that it is some crazy person that has no strong religious affiliation.
geesh.

How many incidents of gunmen shooting at multiple victims has happened in the U.S. ober that last 10 years?
How many of the perpatrators have been Muslim?

I can hardly believe that someone would write a post like yours. I am continually amazed on this site.

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

So the Navy cannot defend itself from a shooter?

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

Not if they don't allow them to carry loaded guns.

The navy yard had two layars of security, the fact that the shooter got past these two lines of security before starting his rampage means this was someone familiar with the bases security measures

Re: Active gunmen in US navy Yard

The local news just reported 12 dead, and that the gunman they killed was an employee whose "status had changed."

Disgruntled employee?
