The problem with calling this a "movement" is that formation of new states (or new state boundaries) is never going to happen peacefully and they lack the means to do so by force. Insanity is not all that interesting.

Same thing is happening in Colorado. Northern counties are trying to get a referendum on the ballet. Still would take an act of Congress, which I doubt would ever happen....unless the polls supported it.

And if you want to see ridiculously gerrymandering, this is a fun read. Its a few years old, but still applies. And as usual, this is just another one of those problems that will only be fixed by a robot.

Like many CONs you fail to understand how our system works. Square miles don't vote. People do. According to the 2012 vote the split is more like 60/40 not 80% on CONservative counties. Obama won reelection by 15% more of the vote. So not quite even anyway ya skin that cat. (FYI given all the RINO crap and 'not a true CONservative' dribble counting moderates along with CONs seems a bit of a reach.)

Oxy Rush was pretty good. He was funny. Sober Rush sucks.

Anyway, as I expected, you have no basis to claim that FL has pushed for separation.

And as I expected you can't google the truth! ('A Few Good Men' came on...)

According to the 'Miami-Dade Libertarian Examiner' three days after President Obama was elected for a second term, a petition was started to separate Florida from the Union. It got 31,000 signatures in under 30 days, the time deadline. 25,000 are required to get an official response from the White House...

According to City data forums in 2008 south Florida wanted to break away. They are talking about it in their forum.

I find it difficult to believe you have lived there for 'decades' and missed any talk of secession. Maybe when you was out of the country?

2008 would be around when I was writing my proposal, in Miami or Gainesville. I'm not sure how I missed the petition news, probably because it was insignificant and largely fodder for pundits.

Thanks for the explanation, I stand corrected.
