Debbie Wasserman Schultz on COL recall: 'Voter Suppression, Pure and Simple’

Debbie is correct;

Balloting problems can fully account for Sen. John Morse's margin of defeat. Litigation from a third-party candidate, who in the end failed to garner the needed signatures to join the race, prevented the normal delivery of mail ballots in this election. The situation was further compounded by limited voting hours and locations set up by El Paso County Clerk Wayne Williams. Early voting locations in SD-11 opened days after those in Pueblo, and some as centers, such as liberal Manitou Springs, didn't open until Monday.

The preliminary tally as of this morning has Morse trailing by a mere 343 votes to Senator-elect Bernie Herpin. But more telling is the stark difference in the total number of votes cast in the SD-11 recall election versus SD-3 in Pueblo: Over 35,000 in Pueblo compared to fewer than 18,000 in Colorado Springs. At least some of that gap must be attributed to impaired access to the vote in El Paso County

Debbie is correct;

When fewer people can vote republicons tend to win elections.
When more people can vote Democratic candidates tend to win elections.
If mail in ballots went out as Coloradans have become accustomed to, especially in rural districts, or if El Passo county had the polls open for early voting the recalled people would have retained their offices.
The margins of victory in the recalls were tiny and only about 30% of eligible voters had their say.
Those are the facts.
Celebrate that if you must but in the next election cycle those seats will go back to the blue side.
BTW Democrats in both the Colorado House and Senate remain in the majorities and the slightly saner gun laws they passed remain untouched and enforced.

I would like to those facts please.

This is really simple, so listen up ...

You get mad and lose your cool just because Wasserman was factually correct and I pointed it out with verifiable evidence. WOW!!!! :doh:roll:

Well here's a start: First, it's largely irrelevant, if not entirely irrelevant whether voters were mailed their ballots or not.

I guess election law of Colorado is irrelevant.

Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?
A: No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it.

The Obama Phone?

No, free "Obamaphones" were part of the new CRA......

No she wasn't.....

What is factually correct is that progressives don't care about issues unless they're activists or don't financially gain from casting a vote...

DWS is never correct because she is as partisan as you can get..... She has an ego the size of the Sun - hence her excuses for the progressives failed attempts at tyrannical "gun control."

:doh Did you even bother to read the post or the comment to which I was referring?

Good grief.

bs[sup]...[/sup]

OK prove me wrong......

Yes, some people qualified for communications subsidies for a while now (progressive idea of course) however, people are getting free ****ing cell phones presently under the stimulus er "new CRA."

In an earlier post, 92 - I presented her statements and evidence that she was factually correct about the mail in ballots issue and the reliance Colorado voters have on them.

Not one person here has provided any verifiable evidence otherwise. Not one.

No, you merely opined some silly, baseless assertions to which no one found it remotely worth bothering to comment - save me - and that to say "Wow" :doh.

That's easy, another James O'Keefe phony video.

By your own terms - you just included yourself as NO ONE. Well done!

And you need to find out the difference between fact and opinion. The FACT that mail in ballots were not allowed in this recall election is beyond dispute. And that is what Wasserman contended and she has been proven right.

Now this is the part where you either apologize or present the verifiable evidence that she was incorrect in her statement.

Yeah..... I know .... fat chance.;)

After the OP it took only a single post from Grim to turn it into a hate fueled vitriolic poisonous right wing attack festival with Wasserman as its target. .

That isn't "voter suppression" tho.....

DWS said the majority of of COL voters relied on mail in ballots and that is not true at all........These clowns got overwhelmingly recalled..... Counting the "rural areas" wouldn't have mattered considering if every vote came in for the recalled they still would have been recalled regardless...

The best part is that the majority of those who live in rural areas rely on guns to eat and for protection.....

Hell, during a general election or even midterm election states can be called with only 10% of the votes in.......

There was no suppression whatsoever........

The article I linked to gave a figure of 70% or more. Here is a different article in advance of the election which confirms those high figures

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/17/colo-recall-without-mail-ballots-changes-dynamic/

Democratic Senate President John Morse, one of the lawmakers facing a recall, said there's an expectation from some voters that they'll get a ballot by mail because that's what they're used to. In November, about 74 percent of Colorado voters cast their ballot by mail.
"They're going to wait for it and it's never going to come, and they're not going to get a chance to vote," Morse said Friday. "I think it's bad for everybody.
In Morse's Colorado Springs district, 61.4 percent voted with a mail ballot in 2010, the year he won re-election by a margin of a few hundred votes. In the district of Pueblo Sen. Angela Giron, the other lawmaker facing a recall, 65.9 percent voted with a mail ballot that same year.

And that is a blatant lie, pure speculation or an assertion that could also read: "70% of the STATE of Colorado relies on mail in ballots" - meaning that 70% of the state is rural in which in fact would be absolutely true - just not via population.....

I provided a second article with similar statistics.

If you have something in the way of evidence to provide other than vitriol and rhetoric, I would be glad to read it.

Blah blah blah blah

Careful, keep it up and you'll sound just like ole' blabbermouth schultzie herself - who deserves every bucket of vitriol she begs.

I give you facts and verifiable information and you give me vitriol and nonsense. You come across loud and clear.

Why have you not disputed one of the facts that I verified in proving that Wasserman was correct?

Why are you so woefully impotent to do that?

It's a riddle....

70% of the state of Colorado does use mail in ballots however, the majority of the population of Colorado lives in 30% of the state...

See how that works???

It's called dirty politics. It's called DWS being misleading and purposely deceptive....

You have no facts......

You bought DWS magic trick hook line and sinker....

No. Not at all. What is your point that you failed to make in that post?

How is the vast majority of the voters using a mail in ballot somehow someway "dirty politics"? can you explain that accusation with evidence ?

Actually, I am the only one providing verifiable statistics and facts. You and others are simply providing the usual right wing vitriol.
