Hawaii Gov. Calls Special Session on Gay Marriage

The only God actually. Everyone who is not saved pays the price.

My God can beat up your God. Sorry, you open yourself up to such things when you start claiming that YOUR religion is somehow the only religion.

You have faith, we get it. Claiming it as fact, well, that's another story.

No I'm not saying we are the only religion. I'm saying we are the only religion that is true and that is a fact.

No it isn't fact, it's faith. If you cannot PROVE that it is the only true religion than it is faith. Now THAT is FACT.

Recall that you inherited your religion from the Jews. So if the first commandment was talking about religion, the only proper religion would be Judaism.

"equal" "rights"

yep as the SSC cases on this matter have also determined
sorry that hurts your poor feelings you want to practice discrimination and dont care about equal rights

Not completely true actually.

Semi-related question:

Is it right for America to force Christian rules into law of the nation? Jesus talked about more than just the gays, after all. (wait, did he say anything about the gays at all?)

Mandatory tithes, divorce illegal, etc?

Seeing as it was the intent of the founders for this to be a Christian Nation, yes. The Establishment Clause was meant for denominations as everyone identified with Christianity at the time. It was understood the religion was Christianity, they weren't going to adopt a national denomination however so they could avoid what happened in England.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Muslim] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Yes the Government, not the country. Big difference.

And here we are, talking about how the government should treat its citizens, yes?

You still get to be a Christian and think all sorts of "Christian" thoughts. The government, by your own admission, was not intended to do that by the very founding fathers you just invoked.

"It was understood" that the establishment clause meant Christians. :lamo

I don't think he realizes that if he does this, Hawaii will literally sink into the ocean.

I hope not, my daughter is on her honeymoon over there right now.

Who said it hurt my feelings?

I did, did you not see the author of the post you quoted, it was me
I said it and that's my belief and will continue to be

No, not semantics, fact.

Or, God already said it. You seemed to ignore that little fact.

Didn't pass anything off on anyone, you just don't like the facts.

Hilarious. I might have to adopt your tactic of ending everything by saying "fact" that way it becomes true and no one can refute me.

Which means that every person who chooses to live together and have sex but not get married still living in sin according to the Christian religion. Still legal. Which means every person who thinks unclean thoughts (lustful) about someone else is living in sin according to many Christians. Still legal.

It is not illegal to live "in sin" according to someone else's religion. That is one of the best things about this country. Most people, if not all, are living in sin in some way or another according to someone's religion, which is pretty much the very reason we have freedom of religion in this country, as a founding principle of this country, so that people are free to live their lives as they see fit, not being legally persecuted or held back because someone else's religious beliefs say they are living in sin. That is between them and God, not you nor the law.

And really, this shows the ultimate hypocrisy of the anti-SSM "Christian" crowd. They take a hard stance on this aspect of their religious morality, but let all the others slide. There's no nationwide push to make sex before marriage illegal, or divorce, or working on a Sunday or eating shrimp. The group of people who carry around signs to protest same-sex marriage don't carry signs to protest the death penalty. They're applying their religion selectively. By sheer coincidence, against a practice they personally feel disgusted by.

It has never been about the book. It's about their personal feeling. That little shudder that most straight people get when they picture two dudes making out. The difference is that a rational person shudders and thinks "I'm not into that." An irrational person thinks "...and therefore everyone doing it must be persecuted."
