This post is 100% truth. This seems like the best option available to us. Get rid of the offending weapons, no Americans (presumably) get hurt.

I do think it is quality evidence that Assad was the one to use chemical weapons and that Russia knew it.

How is it spin and not genius? Letting Assad stew about what the U.S. might do to him was pure genius. Bush would have "shocked and awed" him before he had the chance with less than satisfactory results as was usual with him. What is most amazing is that Kerry gave Russia the idea.

The best thing that could happen. America gets to stay out and save face at the same time. The government won't be forced to advance an agenda that is overwhelmingly opposed by the majority of Americans. Russia takes the weapons away and its their problem. If Assad uses Chemical weapons again, Russia losses all credibility whatsoever and a true international consensus would be created to go after that guy that would probably take less than a day.

I somehow doubt Russia hadn't thought of this before Kerry said it. My guess is the more likely scenario of what happened was Russia saw it's "evidence" of who was responsible for the attack wasn't going to hold water, and rather risk losing credibility and an ally, it jumped at the opportunity to find a way to still keep their ally while saving credibility.

This is a win for everyone, should it come to pass.

Yeah, I've heard that talking point before. It's never actually explained in real people logic, though. How does not blowing up Syria make us look weak? How weak will it supposedly make us look? What are "our enemies", whoever they are, suddenly going to do now that... they don't think we'll destroy their countries at the drop of a hat? Maybe we shouldn't have started that trend in the first place, and maybe it's the right thing to change the dynamic away from the big strong US dropping fire out of the sky and invading smaller, weaker nations. Nobody is going to think we're "weak". But maybe they'll start to think we're not crazy.

Ditch the childish talking points and actually offer some reasoned ideas.

The problem is that argument is not presented by rational people, it's presented by partisan people. If one party is in the White House and decides one thing, the other party says the opposite.

The only people who believe the 7th grade mentality of having to be tough are people not interested in rationality.

So, Kerry wasn't smart enough to propose his own idea? Kerry or Putin, it doesn't matter, Putin will be seen as the Hero and savior from the Great Satan by all the radicals.
