US Senate panel approves use of military force.

Jesus, this meme. Focus.
Did you saw what you wrotte:
The rich no longer participate in the actual military. Let's at least make them pay for it with higher taxes. Something tells me we'd have a lot fewer military interventions.
No, you'll have more interventions.

The only good that a war or a strike bring to USA, is the increase of dollar power.

I would understand something like this and potentially support it, though unsure about this particular setup. But you can tell politics today has made me a cynic...I'd be worried day one you'd have Republicans trying to remove all of those and Democrats trying to exempt all or some in the "up to 100k" range.

If you're not a cynic, you're not paying attention:)

I just pulled those figures out of my ass but really a war tax would affect the way we operate now. To me it is blatantly obvious that Bush and Obama are mere puppets of the MIC (and their predecessors). If the MIC couldn't profit on "emergency wars", we'd have almost none. I'm not advocating that the MIC can't make a profit, just not these special "profits of convenience" when business gets a little slow.

...and yes, everyone should have to pay tax, poor or rich. Might make people more thoughtful about their political enthusiasms.

^---- to my last point
In this particular instance, we won't be leveling the playing field. We'll be flattening it. So maybe a flat tax is in order.

Exactly. We need a Constitutional Amendment for this. The cost of military action should immediately be paid for in higher taxes, though I would limit it to the top brackets -- since they benefit most.

Let's see how serious these people are. The rich no longer participate in the actual military. Let's at least make them pay for it with higher taxes. Something tells me we'd have a lot fewer military interventions.

Obama says our security and vital national interest are at stake. Taxpayers in our country, the minority, are already hit hard enough paying the taxes for everybody. Time for a wartime surcharge on those receiving food stamps, welfare, obamacare financial assistance, student grants, earned income credit, wic, green cards, and so on. No more free rides while Obamas vital war is going on, they have to pitch in too. According to Obama it's only for about 90 days.

Something tells me Obama would not be pushing for his war with Syria.

If he wanted to show a good ethics, he could have gone out of the room and he could have played even Battle Field with Obama if he wanted to.
But playing that game during a speech, is so rude. He disrespect the one talking, and he disrespect the entire room.
I won't come up with that "he could at least respect the dead people in Syria by now, since the talking was about Syria" ......... because I don't really they care a lot about dead people or humanity standards.

Your talking to somebody who is panting for war, any excuse, just as long as we get the green light on the bombing campaign. Very twisted ****.

I bet Obama can't put down Assadd for 90 days.

Since the military is overwhelmingly made up of working class men and women, I think they already pay enough

if their taxes aren't raised, they won't be out in the streets. the draft doesn't exist anymore because the vast majority was subject to it. the rich are not the vast majority, and could get out of the draft. if we only jack up tax rates on the wealthy, they'll just buy loopholes. if everyone has to pay more, the opposition to new conflicts will be nearly one hundred percent except in the direst of circumstances. those conflicts will also end much more quickly.
