This is not patriots versus redcoats. It's vicious secular dictator against vicious sectarian jihadists.
At least Kerry didn't accuse Assad of personally raping, cutting off ears, cutting off heads, taping wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cutting off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shooting at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan like he accused me and another 3.5 million vets who served in Nam of being quilty of.
Syria is small peanuts on the world stage, and everyone knows that. There is more behind this, IMO. Invading them makes us look like bullies, especially considering that there are currently regimes whose atrocities are equally as disgusting, but we aren't invading them. Selective outrage looks ridiculous! Why the haste, when we still don't know with certainty who is guilty? The UN isn't convinced, and neither are our allies, plus this administration has not sold this to the American people, who overwhelmingly are saying until the truth is known!

You may be on track.
I think it's very likely that back in May or June or even earlier Obama decided to pick sides and intervene in a religious civil war that doesn't involve us. Sarin gas is just an excuse to get involved.
Obama, considering he has adopted many of his fathers Marxist ideologies decided on regime change in Syria and has again sided with radical islamist facist and Islamist radicals like he did in Egypt and Libya. Except this time Al Qaeda is already involved and they are with the rebels.
After Assad who's next on Obama's hit list ? Maybe the King of Jordan ?
