But they do have strongly held, though flexible, opinions.

Anytime you get one of the great powers attacking a country where the other two (Russia, China) have vested interests, the risk of an escalating conflict exists.

As to whether it is LIKELY... I have my doubts.
    And rightly so.

Where would be the benefit to either Russia or China? There is no strongly held ideology that separates these countries, and no one's security is at risk. Neither can any of these countries afford a war. There might be some Cold War posturing but it would go nowhere.

Russia and China have probably both been informed that a few missiles will be dropped in order to same some face but it will stop there, and both Russia and Chine will quietly acquiesce..

At least when he made Hillary Clinton his Secretary of State he did not allow her to have anything to do with Iraq or Afgan for about three years or so. But with Kerry, he added no much needed adult supervision.

We have already done that. What I was getting at was that if Russia and Iran attack an ally in ME (i.e., Israel), what is to stop Russia, Serbia, and perhaps Montenegro attacking European allies (i.e., us) here?

Considering Greeks do not go after you below since they are in NATO. Though considering their economic crisis they might nevertheless.

You mean Obama is left, is surrounded by yes men, influences uncritical group think influence, just like Kennedies did, and all this is Bay of Pigs all over again? I do not think so. To beat the devastating influences of group think you just assign a devils advocate. But of course they know this undergraduate stuff and may as well be working along those lines.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kerry-Clinton is the ticket in 2016. And if GOP puts forth something along the lines of McSame & Juggs like 2008; they might even end up as POTUS and VPOTUS. When that occurs, we will be reading each other's posts while hiding under our beds. LOL

Interestingly enough, Israel has already attacked Syria several times this year .....

BEIRUT, Lebanon — A series of powerful explosions rocked the outskirts of Damascus early Sunday morning, which Syrian state television said was the result of Israeli missile attacks on a Syrian military installation.

If true, it would be the second Israeli airstrike in Syria in two days and the third this year.

The airstrike that Israeli warplanes carried out in Syria overnight on Thursday was directed at a shipment of advanced surface-to-surface missiles from Iran that Israel believed was intended for Hezbollah, American officials said Saturday. That strike was aimed at disrupting the arms pipeline that runs from Syria to Hezbollah, the militant Lebanese organization, and it highlighted the mounting stakes for Hezbollah and Israel as Syria becomes more chaotic.

On Sunday, the Syrian government said that the Israelis had launched a missile attack against the military complex at Jamraya just outside Damascus overnight.

The Jamraya complex, the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center, is Syria’s main research center for work on biological and chemical weapons, American officials have said, raising questions about whether the motivation for the attack went beyond stopping the flow of arms to Hezbollah. The Israeli raid in January was in the same area and the complex suffered moderate damage in that attack....read...
