John Kerry: ‘We Are Not Going to Lose’ Vote Authorizing Syria Military Action'

John Kerry called this the "Munich Moment." That's a shame. For one, comparisons to Hitler are almost always reckless hyperbole. Two, the concept of appeasement is invoked way too much. Going back to point one, it only is relevant if you're dealing with someone akin to Hitler. Most people aren't.

Damn. Kerry is out neo-conning even McCain,Lieberman and Graham. Very nice.

Hypocrites...but we always knew that. All you have to do is wait, and they'll come through every time.

If that's the case, couldn't they just start the war whenever they wanted? They could start by bombing India and Pakistan and letting them destroy each other.

Sure they could. Iran hates Israel as a matter of course though, so that is where I expect a Twelver to try and spool the end-times up. But sure - if there were Twelvers in power in Pakistan they could probably get WW III going by bombing India back to kingdom come.

Twelver - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

People of the Twelver faith form a majority in Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan and Bahrain, and form a plurality in Lebanon. Alevis in Turkey and Albania, and Alawis in Syria, also regard themselves as Twelvers, but hold significantly different beliefs from mainstream Twelver Shias. People of the Twelver faith form a large minority in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia. Smaller minorities of Twelver also exist in Oman, Yemen and Egypt and in many other countries, including Europe and the Americas.

or maybe he is a ex-dentist who is trying to hold onto his position as dictator, and does not care how many of his countries people have to die as a consequence.

Assad is an Alawite, which is a Twelver.

They are also the last thru DNA that have any ties to the original Syrians.....course the Sunni wouldn't mind seeing that line beome extinct.

Israel hates Iran as a matter of course. And the west allows Israel to get away with murder, literally. And what makes Ahmadinejad a lunatic?

For those advocating a military response...what IS that response? To what end would you see the response bring? And what IF...what if it turns out that like the chemical attack in March and like the rebels caught by Turkey in June with Sarin Gas, what if it turns out is was the rebels that launched the attack? Do you still call for attacks...only this time against the Presidents allies?

It WAS the Islamist extremist rebels that the US has been supporting that carried out the attacks. Secondly, any attack on a country that didn't attack us first violates our own constitution, and it violates international law. It's like being in the twilight zone, just hearing it contemplated.

It would be very interesting to see Republicans stand up and say that they no longer want to help eliminate WMDs.

It would make sense to me for them to stand up and say that lobbing some missiles into the desert isn't going to eliminate any WMD's. When was the last time a U.S. military action fixed anything?

Heya VM. :2wave: This what McCain and Menendez is saying.

Both McCain and Menendez said that although any action would be aimed at degrading Assad's capabilities to deliver chemical weapons, it could also undermine the Syrian government itself and shift momentum in favor of the rebels.....snip~

Hi MMC. This whole thing just reeks of amateur hour. Even the people backing the president dont know what they are backing. I wonder how many peple really believe that if the UK hadnt pulled the plug on this that Obama would still have gone to congress. I would bet money on him really HOPING against hope that the GOP votes against his request.

Yeah VM.....well I think people should be all over the Media to have Obama explain the backing of Traitors and Terrorists. Wheres the Debate?

I dont think many of his supporters (yes...even in the media) agree with or believe in what he is doing. Thats not going to be enough to make many of them openly challenge him. The majority are still "true believers". They will change their hard and fast positions based on whatever he says next.

Looks like all the Tea party is caving and giving into the Neo Cons.....I swear to god I wish I could walk Right behind Johnny Quest and put my foot off dead into that Senile ****s azz. Boehner wusses out again.

So most of these Reps will vote against what their people in their districts want. Wont even bring it to them.

I dont know what anyone is caving in to> Might be better to see what is actually being presented and proposed.

If the administration has legit proof that the Assad regime gassed his own people, then I am full on supportive of kicking Assad's ass. I dont want to see some pathetic impotent display of a few cruise missiles...I want to see his palace brought down on his head and his military turned out.

Yeah, won't happen.

Because the Republican Party is filled with a bunch of push overs

Obama's Foreign Policy is a disgrace and an historic humiliation. There is no reason for us to be involved there. No reason for the US Military to be fighting alongside Al Qaeda. This is all a distraction. Wag The Dog. If we're talking about Syria, we're not talking about the crimes committed by the Obama Administration in Benghazi. We're not talking about the privacy violations being committed by the NSA. We're not talking about the IRS (acting in concert with a Chicago Thug WH) targeting, harassing and intimidating Obama's political opposition.

Still the sheep buy it. MSNBC and John Kerry said it, so it must be true. We still don't know all the facts. The rebels are on camera seen loading chemical weapons. Assad had the initiative in the civil war. He was winning. Why would he unleash chemical weapons knowing it would invite US intervention? Why is Obama arming Al Qaeda? Who are these rebels? Who is their leader? What do they stand for? The MSM is spinning another propaganda narrative and even after 5 years of this comical nonsense, people are still buying into the Kool-AId.

It amazes me how eager Obama Supporters are to rush to war. After all Obama and his cronies NEVER LIE right? These are truthful altruistic people who really care right? How naive and childish. The Left has abandoned all it's principles for Obama. Your hawking is costing you your credibility.

Even if he gassed his own people it's not our fight

Heya VM they don't have legitimate proof.....6 times the Rebels have accused Assads forces of using them. From the Beginning of the Revolt. This last time Russia didn't even screw around. They took in Satellite Imagery straight to the UN and Ban ki Moon. Homemade rocket by the Rebels. Trajectory and coordinates and where it landed. Now all of a sudden we are saying Assad did it. It's BS.

Right now there are a lot of those on Terror lists inside Syria.....if anything then turn the **** into a parking lot and get Rid of Most of the Problems and all those fighting brigades. Might as well as go total War. Take out Assad and at the same time. Take out most of the trouble makers in the ME.

Leaving the MB to run for their very lives......and No Place to hide!

The guy thinks there is some messiah strolling across the face of our planet for the last 1,200 years. That's someone who isn't playing with a full deck.

I'm on the fence / I have mixed feelings over this whole mess. Hitler gassed people and had to be stopped. Gadaffi shot down civilian aircraft on other continents and had to be stopped. Idi Amin killed and ate his enemies and had to be stopped. Charles Taylor committed crimes against humanity against Sierra Leone and had to be stopped. Sometimes really bad people just need to be taken out. In this case, I really think the Arab Coalition needs to take this dirtball out. It bothers me that the Arab League not only hates USA but is telling the UN that USA needs to go do something about it. Do these people have any testicles whatsoever? Or are the only people with balls on this planet living in North America, Western Europe, and Australia? Because I must say; outside of Israel the rest of North Africa are just a bunch of ball-less wonders.

Heya Snappo. :2wave: I agree the Arab league should be the ones dealing with this. Not anyone else. Other than to make sure they aren't going to spill that sectarian divide into other Countries and inflame things there.(despite us knowing they are)

Like Kerry said.....if we can't turn a blind eye on Assad. Then we can't do so on the Rebels with knowing what they did and are made up of.

And to me, thats the part that is troubling. So many people are making comments and taking sides based on their partisan ideals.

The United States is not the world's police force. Nobody can predict what's going to happen. Historically world wars don't start over night. Events lead to a point of no return. We cannot predict what will happen there. Lobbing a few cruise missiles is a pointless symbolic gesture. It's a cynical military tactic. Obama is already killing brown people over there with drones. Read about it in the foreign press. It's something that isn't covered much by Obama's army of sycophantic propagandists in the MSM. Our image in the world isn't improving under Obama either like he and The Left promised. It's diminishing. Our country is now humiliated and a laughing stock around the world because of Barack Obama.

We have literally nobody willing to help us in Syria. The UK walked. France isn't reliable. Our country as well as other Western Countries can't afford getting involved in a long drawn out civil war. That's why it's not our fight. We have no business intervening in civil wars between Al Qaeda and thugs.

The world is a horrible place. Nobody wants to see anyone gassed, but you need to set aside the emotional aspect of this and look at it logically.

1) Why would Assad use chemical weapons? He is already winning. Why use chemical weapons and invite US intervention

2) Obama, Kerry and their supporters seem so eager to rush to war. So eager in fact that Obama played golf on Saturday after giving a campaign speech about the war

Historically there are worse examples than this gas attack in Syria and the entire world did nothing. The US did nothing. Nobody went to war when the kulaks were systematically starved by left wing collectivists when they took power in Russia. Nobody intervened when Kurds were gassed by Hussein. Nobody intervened when Stalin starved the Ukrainians. The US didn't go to war when the more than a million Armenians were brutally and systemically murdered. The US didn't declare war on Japan after what the Japanese did at Nanking.

Don't buy into the emotional propaganda. If we go to war in Syria it will be an unjust war.

There's millions of people in America who think there was this guy named Jesus that was born of a virgin, died and came back to life and is floating on a cloud waiting to come back for them, and we don't call them lunatics. It's people's beliefs, SO WHAT. During his ten years presidency, how many nations did Ahmadinejad attack? Only racists and bigots want to bomb countries that haven't bothered us because they are of a different race and religion.
