Congress not rushing back for Syria vote

But do we really need any other nations help to launch Cruise Missals?
I think sending them Roman Catholic Mass supplements would probably make them more angry.

Also, we wouldn't get much help from England or Israel.

Obama says he did it. If you think some stupid media station like FOX has more information than the CIA, NSA, M7, etc. then I think you are backing the wrong horse. Assad has to die. I say take the bad guy out and move on.

The UN disagrees with that assesment.

Congress to Vote on Syria

Nation Building.

This is very different from "nation building" like for in Iraq. We were told that it was only combatants and not civilians that we were fighting...

Now in syria, by fighting Assad we are directly and indirectly aiding Alquaida. Worst of all, we might very well be turning Syria into an alquida controlled country... How would that benefit our national security??

Who cares about that when there's money to be made? War is peace.

What can be negotiated?

Withdrawal of Hezbollah?

Withdrawal of Al Qaida?

A bond to be posted committing Dollars of Barrels of oil, if the Assad Regime uses chemical weapons again?

Did the FSA use chemicals in April, 2013?

Are there some areas of demarcation that can be agreed upon, for a cease fire? Can someone draw a map for FSA territory and Assad's Syria?

What other conditions could be workable to get a cease fire?

What about agreeing that some areas are contested, and small arms fire can be used to fight over the contested territories in Syria?

Maybe the US should become an advocate for Democracy. Bashar Assad is up for re-election in 2014. Why not ask the FSA for a cease fire, and start working on elections? The US could furnish printing for election materials. The FSA could agree to no demonstrations until after the election, and Assad could agree to refrain from reprisals against suspected FSA members.

The problem in Syria, according to Assad, is that demonstrations were used by radicals to attack the police, from the safety of a demonstration crowd. The right to demonstrate is important, but demonstrations are not practical with a civil war in progress. So the FSA could agree to no demonstrations in exchange for a cease fire, until at least after the elections.

What harm is Assad doing that needs military intervention? Can't the US encourage all western powers to support the election process in Syria, 2014?

Maybe US leaders should stop advocating Regime Change by armed rebellion.

Those are all good ideas, and another option is that Syria being an ally of Russia and China, why not let those two countries work out this problem with their ally? They want to, Putin has asked the US repeatedly to bud out!

That's funny calling the FSA "protestors" is like saying that Obama deserves a Nobel peace prize... Err.. Well you get the point.

Difficult to believe but Putin has somehow managed to resist Obama's charm offensive.

The FSA started out as protesters, two years ago, protesting abuses by the Assad Police/military. Political arrest and torture.

There were shots fired from the protesters toward the Syrian police, and police fired back, killing demonstrators. Same thing is happening in Egypt.

A Cease Fire could allow political activity in small groups, but not in large demonstrations.

The US could offer help to solve crimes of Murder, Kidnapping and Torture. A cease fire could include an amnesty for crimes prior to the cease fire.

The US could agree to furnish equal assistance to prosecuting FSA and Military members.

The civil war needs to be transformed into Civil Society, free of fear of unjust detention or injury.

The US needs to export a love of justice. People in many countries need to better eschew murder, kidnapping, and torture. Kidnapping is becoming common in Mexico, our southern neighbor, and the US turns a blind eye. People need to stop selling Murder as War or Revoution.

You make some good points here, but I just want to clarify, I've still seen within the past 2-3 weeks that they are still being referred to as protesters...

Anyway, yes, there are many ways that this issue could be tackled without resorting to bombing runs an eventually invasion.
