Not that it means that we must intervene whenever atrocities are committed around the world, but American credibility is on the line in this case. The stated (bull****) reason for invading Iraq was due to the threat its supposed stockpile of WMD threatened us and our allies. They didn't have any, but guess who did? Syria. The President sets American foreign policy, and he has drawn a reasonable line to deter their use.
Now Syria has apparently crossed that line and is using WMD against our allies, their own people. How can we defend our moral standing in the world if we choose to punish a country because of their threat of using WMD, but ignore a country that actually uses them?
On another point, Congress as a body certainly deserves to have a say about military action. However, the legislators that make up Congress don't seem to have earned the President's respect after all they've done to delegitimize him.
Once again Generalisimo Obama is lying to the American people that we would intervene because of a small scale (possibly fake) chemical attack. The real reason he is interested in this area is of course the same reason the far left accused Bush of in Iraq. A war for oil and pipelines as Warmonger Obama is looking out for his Islamist pals in Qatar, Saudi & Turkey who need Syria to connect the pipeline. Thats what this is all about........
Now there's been a "napalm-like" strike on a goddamned schoolyard. It boggles my mind that people are still trying to defend the regime's actions.

What kind of parents let there kids go to the playground in the middle of a war? Honestly are we expected to buy this hogwash....
Three cruise missiles won't mean a thing and we can hardly send so many, that we can be sure to take the Bad Guy out.
So what does it mean, when the president of the US draws a Red Line?
On German public radio (Deutschlandfunk) they did a commentary this morning on the impotency of the US.
The damage is done and the US did not win.
So, I guess we go through the ritual, destroy all major Syrian bases. At least the world might understand that R2P has to be enforced by the UN and not left to the members. I had thought Bush had made it obvious enough. But the international community let this happen and did nothing.
