Thing is we could never get all of the terrorists. There are new ones born every day.

No, it removes the burden from society to keep human garbage from being fed, clothed and housed forever. If you willingly take a life then you should be removed from society permanently and with as little cost as possible, just like a moldy loaf of bread is discarded. The problem with the DP now is that is is not used often enough to be effective - less that 2% of those convicted of 1st degree murder get the DP. So even if caught and convicted you now have a 98% chance of not being executed for the ultimate crime of 1st degree murder.

Eh, whatever way some want to spin it, Hasans actions were an act of Terrorism. There is absolutely no dispute about Hasan’s motives or affiliations. He was acting to aid the Taliban after admitting he corresponded with an Al Qaeda leader (Anwar Al-Awlaki).

I've talked about the problems I see with the Death Penalty in another thread, but as long as its going to be around I'm good that its going to someone who deserves it.

Battles for God are eternal, that's what they believe. For Americans who can't see beyond the profits for next quarter, there's not a chance in hell.

This "war on terrorism" is never going to end if we keep involving ourselves in their affairs.

Or we could have kept him alive to live with what he's done and with his resultant paralysis. That is certainly not a fun way to live your life. We are actually doing him a favor by putting him out of his misery and at the same time creating a new martyr for the terrorists.

When the oil runs out, we will. That's all we care about anyway.

My criteria for terrorism doesn't include attacking military targets. Military targets are legitimate targets of war, if there could be said to be such a thing. Yes, he shot civilians, but we bomb civilians sometimes. Hell, we killed tons of them in WW2. It was called "collateral damage." So these particular assholes aren't a state actor. I don't see that as being critical either: they're the enemy. They don't recognize our legitimacy any more than we recognize theirs.
I just can't imagine going through life being that indifferent about something like this. What's it like?

I'm not really interested in torturing him. I just don't think he deserves to live.

A lot of things create new terrorists. I don't think we should refrain from doing something right based on how terrorists might perceive it.
