Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary[W:101]

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

How do you think REVEREND MLK would feel about Margaret Sanger being hailed as a hero by the Libbos?

Martin Luther King said:
There is a striking kinship between our movement and Margaret Sanger's early efforts. She, like we, saw the horrifying conditions of ghetto life. Like we, she knew that all of society is poisoned by cancerous slums. Like we, she was a direct actionist — a nonviolent resister. She was willing to accept scorn and abuse until the truth she saw was revealed to the millions. At the turn of the century she went into the slums and set up a birth control clinic, and for this deed she went to jail because she was violating an unjust law. Yet the years have justified her actions. She launched a movement which is obeying a higher law to preserve human life under humane conditions. Margaret Sanger had to commit what was then called a crime in order to enrich humanity, and today we honor her courage and vision; for without them there would have been no beginning. Our sure beginning in the struggle for equality by nonviolent direct action may not have been so resolute without the tradition established by Margaret Sanger and people like her. Negroes have no mere academic nor ordinary interest in family planning. They have a special and urgent concern.

The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

I'm 2 1/2 hours into the CSPAN coverage of the event and it is simply disheartening.

The whole event seems to be a combination of a campaign rally and a pity party.

I believe that was the intent. I watched less...

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

The topic of civil rights is important to me so I want to post this news story.

LA Times

Forgive me for posting a awkward or bad link
What we can take from this message is that the only way a nation can ever hope to survive is if homosexuals can legally marry and women have the right to murder their unborn.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

Don't understand why its all entertainers giving speeches. Are these honestly the "best" black leaders we can offer today? Ironic how the only black Senator wasn't invited.
No irony at all - just true racism.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

Ah yes. He definitely sounds different depending on the color of the audience.

You mean he "judged their color"?

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

Oh this definitely proves that MLK supported abortions.
Nope, but it speaks to the question of how King would view or in this case, viewed Sanger.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

If Martin Luther King couod see the civil rights industry he would spit in their faces.

He actually expected blacks to work for a living unlike Jackson, Sharpton and Obama.

Doubtful, his wife accepted the award.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

Doubtful, his wife accepted the award.
Should probably read the link more thoroughly. King both authored the quoted comments and a later letter echoing the same sentiments. For good measure:

Words are inadequate for me to say how honored I was to be the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award. This award will remain among my most cherished possessions. While I cannot claim to be worthy of such a signal honor, I can assure you that I accept it with deep humility and sincere gratitude. Such a wonderful expression of support is of inestimable value for the continuance of my humble efforts.

Again let me say how much I regret that at the last minute urgent developments in the civil rights movement made it impossible for me to be in Washington to personally receive the award. My wife brought glowing echoes of the wonderful reception and impressiveness of the total occasion.

I am happy to be the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award and I can assure you that this distinct honor will cause me to work even harder for a reign of justice and a rule of love all over our nation.

Sincerely yours,

Martin Luther King Jr.

Must be it. Organizing an event memorializing Dr. King is the perfect cover.

Not a single pro-abortion word in there.

I've never made a claim as to King's feelings on abortion, but rather on Sanger, as adpst questioned. Read more, post less.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

Are you saying that MLK was a race hustler like Jesse Jacksin?

That's called a "typo"...

Really, apdst? You really expect folks to believe "JackSIN" was a legit typo? C'mon...

I mean, it's fitting; he did commit a crime and, thus, did sin but really? A "typo". Who you think you're kidding? :lamo

If Martin Luther King couod see the civil rights industry he would spit in their faces.

BTW, there was no Civil Rights "industry". It was a civil rights movement for racial equality - period. The people who were involved during that historic time didn't make a profit on their efforts. In fact, I'd say the only thing they spent was their time, energy and in many cases their blood.

It's the MSM/Pop Culture propaganda merging Obama and MLK as one

The low info voters lap it up like puppies

It is very possible that Apdst had a legit typo. If you look on the keyboard, the I and O are right next to each other.

Re: Crowds gather for March on Washington 50th anniversary

"For many of them, the event was a passing of the torch to a new generation to take up the unfinished cause of the civil rights movement--the promise of equality "embedded in the founding of America," as Cheryl LaRoche put it."

Great...Another generation of anti white blacks raised in a constant atmosphere of racial jealousy and resentment..
'Unfinished cause"?

Please. No other race has been given as much as negroes.

For over five decades we've "empowered" them, "franchised" them, pampered them, placed them on pedestals as creatures of pity... and for all that spending, pampering and pandering, we have vast urban areas of slums, ghettos, ruins filled with some of the most violent, blood thirsty, savage, feral creatures to ever stride the planet. We've had over 50 years of forced integration. over 50 years of generous social entitlement programs. and over 50 years of excuses.

We elevated the negroes, we've given money to bring them out of poverty, we've passed laws to prevent non-white discrimination, we've advanced them in our schools without them needing to learn, we've given them jobs and home loans they didn't qualify for.

...and they always want more..that is the black legacy.."give us more"..
If this country lasted a thousand more years (and it likely won't last TEN more but anyway...) they would STILL be having marches like this demanding MORE.

It's a scam and people are beginning to see through it.

THIS, ladies and gentlemen, is why there's still racism in America...because fools and bigots like this continue to harbor this US -vs- THEM mentality fully believing that the White men gave Blacks such pittance and subsequently squandered it all away. I wonder what you think of the reparations your kind are still giving to Native American Indians? (Been to a reservation lately? Not to turn the issue against them, but if you really want to know how your "charity" has gone to waste for several generations, you might want to take a closer look in their direction. John Stossel did a report about it not long ago...you might want to check it out.)

And for the record, Black Americans all across this country have worked hard, fought, sacrificed and died earning their place in this land. Some of you folks who harbor such hateful, bigoted views need to be reminded of this from time-to-time. So, yes, marches like this one are likely to continue for generations to come...just so YOU don't forget WE'RE HERE AND WE'RE NOT GOING A-N-Y-W-H-E-R-E!!!

Possible, but very unlikely. (Still funny though...it's the one time he made me laugh.)

right..whatever...those are true facts, though...and as far as not going anywhere?...maybe not but things can change... nothing is eternal. Believe that.

Let me just say, it's good you're here, we welcome you. Now could just stop playing the victim and contribute?

Excuse me? Victim? You must have me confused with someone else. I don't think I've never come in here and laid blame on someone else for my failings or shortcomings. If anything, I've tried to educate people on the plight of others who can before me and give rational explanations as to why some things happened they way they did. But I've never laid blame on others for my difficulties. I handle my problems myself.
