Syria crisis: UK to put forward UN resolution

The Islamist extremist, al Qaida affiliated that the US is giving material support to, the ones that you are an apologist for have a propensity to kill civilians. This Syrian insurgency has a jihadist angle to it in addition to its aim of driving the Syrian government from power.

There is "footage of rebel fighters from several factions storming and burning civilian houses in the Hatla village of Reef Deir Izzor," the group said.

"Rebels also killed several inhabitants (civilians and combatants) of the Hatla village" in what seems to be violence "on a sectarian basis."

Syrian rebel factions killed troops and civilians in Hatla, activists say | GlobalPost

I'm not gonna read the article from globalpost. I just want some numbers from a mainstream source.

Syrian rebels killed at least 11 people, including civilians, in an attack on a checkpoint west of the city of Homs on Saturday that official state media described as a massacre.

Most of those killed were Christians, activists and residents said. Some were from the National Defence Army, a militia which fights alongside President Bashar Assad's soldiers, and others were civilians, they said.

We went thru this before......and you already know it. Got anything that can prove Assad killed all 118k? Any links that can Actually prove that Assad has killed over 100k of his people?

Got anything that debunks what the UN investigators said about the Rebels and them using Chems?

I'm just looking for some (total) numbers from a mainstream (and preferably reviewed) source.

That sums it up nicely, we should be on the side of the Rooskies
but Noooo!

Well I would like to see the same from the Mainstream on Assad.....rather than just saying ****. Especially when they have no people in the country on the ground reporting.

Why is someone asking for a source for your number so upsetting?

Here's what the rebels are doing, and note what the civilians say about Assad.

Syrian Rebels Fire on Civilian Protesters
Written by *Alex Newman

We knew what was coming and so wore flak jackets and helmets. The demonstrators knew what was coming, had no protection, and still walked straight into the line of fire.

The demonstrators were predominantly Syrian Palestinians, many from the Yarmouk district of Damascus who had fled when it was taken over by opposition forces eight months ago.

This resident insisted the rebel fighters were not Syrian nationals
Some screamed at us: "Please tell the world the truth! We don't want the fighters here, we want the army to kill them!"

A few carried the portrait of President Assad, others the Syrian or Palestinian flag.

One woman called the Free Syrian Army (FSA) "dogs" and said the men in Yarmouk were not Syrians but from Chechnya and Afghanistan. We could not verify this.

The armed men in Yarmouk had warned the demonstrators not to approach saying they would open fire.

It's not upsetting, but there appears to be no distribution yet of the 100K dead. But I could put up stories and links all day and not run out of rebel fighters killing and torturing civilians, planting undiscriminating truck bombs, kidnaping and church burnings, ambushes and civilian massacres including execution style killings of civilians. But it doesn't seem to matter to those bent on supporting the terrorists in this conflict.

I dunno (or care) how many casualties there have been but I'll tell you what, the stoopid rebels love to post vids of themselves in combat and weehoo buddy what a ragtag buncha non-military murdering thugs they are. They are just about the most ineffective fighting force you'd ever see anywhere. They should all be wiped away like poop from a baby's bottom.

Are we differentiating between the SNC and AlN? Or is that politically inconvenient.

Why is someone asking for a source for your number so upsetting?

Its not, moreover no one has kept totals from the last time you were shown.....why is asking you to validate Assad is responsible for all the killing in Syria with those totals. Upsetting for you. Why is it you cannot produce one shread of evidence yet many around here have already shown you plenty of links and number and stats. Those typically going thru all the motions to show you they know what they are talking about. Yet again you can't even show you know what you are talking about with this issue.

Yet for some reason.....you question all else with producing nothing to back anything you say.

When you can come up with something.....get back with the rest of us that's on top of things. ;)

Why is it you cannot produce one shread of evidence

You made the claim, not me. Don't get all pissy when someone wants to see a source.

Like I said you were shown the last time.....you should have kept that link if you had some dispute with it. I don't recall what thread we were in. So that's on you.

I don't have to prove a negative. You do. Like I said.....when you can manage to come up with something then get back with us on it. You know we will check it out. ;)

I don't have to prove a negative.

It's not a negative. You made a specific claim. You have no source.

Nah, that would be you.....nor do you ever have anything to validate what you think you know. Now myself....I have something that validates all the Death tolls aren't on Assad. You on the other hand got nothing.

U.N. report, new death toll breakdown highlight potential complexities of arming Syria rebels.....

The commission's report to the Human Rights Council on violations in Syria's conflict accused both sides of committing war crimes. In an apparent message to European countries considering arming Syrian rebels, the report warned that the transfer of arms would heighten the risk of violations, leading to more civilian deaths and injuries.

"War crimes and crimes against humanity have become a daily reality in Syria where the harrowing accounts of victims have seared themselves on our conscience," the report said. "There is a human cost to the increased availability of weapons," it added.

"The U.N. Commission accusing both sides of war crimes confirms the U.S. and European Union's worst fear -- that the fighting has gotten so brutal that it becomes difficult to send help," notes CBS News foreign affairs analyst Pamela Falk.

There are no independently verified figures available on how many people have been killed in the two-year-plus civil war, or on their identities. The United Nations says at least 70,000 have died, but the Observatory, which claims to receive information from a network of about 5,000 contacts on both sides of the fight inside Syria, told CBSNews.com on Tuesday that the death now stands at 94,786.

According to the numbers gathered by the Observatory -- which has been and remains an organization sympathetic to the Syrian opposition -- 44 percent of that total is made up of official Syrian government military and security forces as well as unofficial regime supporters.

That figure stands in sharp contrast to inferences from Assad's many international opponents, including U.S. government officials, who have suggested the majority of the deaths have been inflicted by the regime's military upon opponents and non-combatant civilians.

According to the Observatory tally, the Assad regime's armed backers have suffered more casualties than any other group during the war, with 41,786 killed. Non-combatant civilians, according to Observatory founder Rami Abdurrahman, account for 35,757 of those killed since the beginning of the conflict. By contrast, Aburrahman told CBSNews.com that 14,777 rebel fighters had been killed.

Opposition activists have claimed more than six instances when regime forces used chemical weapons.

The report, covering the period from mid-January to mid-May, accused both sides of committing war crimes. On the government side, the report accused government forces and affiliated militia of committing torture, rape, forcible displacement and enforced disappearance. On the rebel side, the report accused armed groups of carrying out sentencing and execution without due process, as well as committing torture, taking hostages and pillaging.

But it said violations and abuses by the rebels "did not, however, reach the intensity and scale of those committed by government forces and affiliated militia."

"A dangerous state of fragmentation and disintegration of authority prevails in areas under anti-government armed groups control, despite attempts to fill the vacuum left by the withdrawal of the state through creating local councils," it said.....snip~

Nice try ECO  .....to get around CBS but I doubt you can. That was what the percentage looked like at 70k. More of Assads people have been killed since then.

Now as far as the latest totals. Even basic Wiki could handle that for a general figure.

Estimates of deaths in the Syrian civil war, per opposition activist groups, vary between 83,175[1][2] and 106,425.[3] On 24 July 2013, the United Nations put out an estimate of over 100,000 that had died in the war.[4]

I should have known.....as usual you didn't know what you were talking about with this issue.

The UN has total numbers, nothing to back your claim.

It's not hard to "get around" CBS when they're reporting on 1 person's blog.

The funny thing is that you would present a blogger as CBS - that's pathetic.
