Report shows how recession hit families [W:391, 502]

I told you I'm concerned about the nation. You made a cliam. You're claim was false. Don't try to dodge it.

But if you want to compare rates:

The Texas region defined by the cities of McAllen, Edinburg and Mission had the highest poverty rate in the country -- 33.4 percent.

No your're not, you are concerned about growing the size of govt. so you can get a piece of the action.

McAllen TX and the valley is a liberal bastion in the state of TX again something you don't understand. That area went big for Obama in a state that Obama lost by over 2 million votes.

Take personal responsibility. Your state simply doesn't measure up.

By your standards? I am not worried about it, you keep pointing out liberal areas of the state but of course that fact escapes you.

By any standard.

Yep, I live in a hell hole. Thanks for your concern. Will have to cut down my bike riding tomorrow on the 160 miles of hike and bike trails. It really sucks here and the Hill country is really a terrible place. Better stay in Iowa as you certainly wouldn't like it here and I know we wouldn't like having you here.

Long live the sequester being insisted upon by Boehner, Can'tor, McCarthy and Hensarling. Ain't life grand? Every issue is approached by Boehner as: "Let's have a 'whale' of a fight".

Like I've said, facts are facts. Trade with the working poor and get back to me.

And like I have stated, you wouldn't survive in TX because Texans understand personal responsibility. People who are making minimum wage are making that wage because they are incapable of doing any better. People in this state that are uninsured mostly are uninsured by choice. People in this state living in poverty aren't looking for a handout from liberals. I know that is hard for you to understand but TX represents the basic values upon which this country was built, values that you and your ilk are trying to change. Don't think that is going to happen in my lifetime.

That is northern Mexico for all practical purposes. McAllen, TX is 84.6% hispanic and 11.7% white. Edinburg, TX is 88.2% hispanic and 8% white. Mission, TX is 85.4% hispanic and 12.4% white.

McAllen, Texas (TX) profile: population, maps, real estate, averages, homes, statistics, relocation, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, moving, houses, news

Edinburg, Texas (TX 78539, 78540) profile: population, maps, real estate, averages, homes, statistics, relocation, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, moving, houses, news

Mission, Texas (TX 78572, 78573) profile: population, maps, real estate, averages, homes, statistics, relocation, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, moving, houses, news

Great, the difference being you don't have to move to TX but you do have to have Obamacare. Don't let reality ever get in the way of your feelings. Guess the TX rankings were ignored when people come to MD Anderson in Houston or the other Medical facilities around the state. TX population is growing and business base is growing. I guess your rankings weren't considered.

Nice diversion though as the topic was ER usage

Yeah then why are we almost dead last in every category. The only thing Perry and his bible thumpers have done is made this state a minimum wage mecca!

And yet the people of this state still overwhelming vote Republican. What is it they know that you don't? It might help if you learned the ethnic makeup of this state and who actually makes up the samples being used.

I know. But it doesn't really matter. It's a problem the state faces and hasn't solved. I have nothing against Texas, or any state, but our friend made inaccurate statements.

I assume that I am "our friend" so if that is the case and my willingness to learn please provide for me the inaccurate statements I have made so I can correct them and apologize?

What you seem to have a problem with is the roles and responsibilities of leadership. The cities and counties you listed are run by Democratic Mayors and you want to blame the Governor for the "will of the people" of the area. Interesting how the "will of the people" only seems to matter to you when that will supports your point of view. What you continue to point out is that you are a big govt. liberal where you want a central govt. providing you with everything you want. That isn't what our Founders created.

Again, BLS shows there are almost 12 million working Texans and 500,000 of them make minimum wage which hardly makes TX a minimum wage mecca.

I already have. You stated Texas was better with healthcare then MA, and that Texas was economically a great place to live. I had mentioned working poor, and you said Texas took care of them. I showed all of that is incorrect.

Yuo will find if you investigate that it is more of a state issue than a city issue. You're dancing so as to not admit your error.

Then please post where I stated that? TX is a great place to live economically. TX does take care of the working poor. Your opinion really doesn't matter much to me nor do any rankings which don't affect me personally either.

You just stated it again. And I've already shown those not to be true. Not an opinion, but factually. You rank low. That's a fact.

When you make a blanket statement that TX isn't a great place to live economically you ignore reality.

First, TX ranks number three in cost of living although apparently cost of living doesn't factor into economic analysis

How do rankings affect individual economics? Cost of living is the key to economic success therefore your opinion isn't based upon reality.

measures of competitiveness

Not livability. Not health. Not health care systems. Not education. Not any result. Just competitiveness.

So, you guys compete a lot, but fail? :lamo:lamo:lamo

Aw yes, cost of living doesn't matter, does it? You failed by claiming that I was wasn't economically benefited by living in TX and that is your opinion which just isn't true.
