Newsom and Christian were carjacked at gunpoint in her parents' 2005 Toyota 4-Runner and brought back to the house on Chipman. Christopher Newsom was raped over and over again (semen was found in his anus) and sodomized with an unknown object. He was blindfolded, gagged, and bound at the hands and feet. After several nightmarish hours, Newsom was either walked barefoot or dragged out to the railroad tracks where he was shot in the back of the head execution-style. The assailants shot him two more times (in the back and in the neck). Then Newsom's corpse was doused with gasoline and lit on fire.

For Channon Christian, the torture was even worse. She suffered days of sexual abuse in the Chipman home. She was beaten mercilessly and raped numerous times, suffering excruciating injuries to her mouth, vagina, and anus. Forensic pathologists found that not only was Christian raped by her captors, but she had been penetrated with an object as well (possibly a chair leg, according to the Knox County Medical Examiner). In addition, examiners found that a chemical (likely bleach) had been poured down her throat and in her wounded genital areas — while she was still alive. The coroner reported that Christian was then tied up with torn strips of bedding, her head covered in a white garbage bag — and then the whole body stuffed in five larger trash bags before being thrown into a garbage can. Perhaps the most horrifying finding was that Christian was still alive at the time; her death came after the slow process of suffocation in that trash container.

Police are hunting for the gunman who shot and killed a former college volleyball player in St. Louis hours before she was scheduled to play in an alumni volleyball game.

Megan Boken, 23, a former all-state volleyball player from Illinois, was shot while sitting inside a white Volkswagen outside the apartment complex where she lived Saturday afternoon, Fox affiliate KTVI reported. Boken was in St. Louis to visit her alma mater, St. Louis University, and play in the annual alumni game.

Authorities are searching for the suspect, described by witnesses as a black male in his 20s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, according to the station.

Police said they believe the man opened the victim’s car door before firing shots from a handgun. Boken was reportedly struck in the neck and chest and later died at an area hospital.

Police are investigating after a well-known businessman was allegedly savagely beaten by a group of teenagers in New Haven.

The street shows no sign of the attack, but folks who saw it can’t forget it.

“Bleeding everywhere,” said New Haven resident Rhea Brown, “he had blood all over him and it was like everyone just came to his aid.”

It was 49-year-old Brooks Macquarrie lying in the street, part of family-owned New Haven Power Sports.

He was test driving a motor scooter he had just fixed, at the corner of Goffe and Orchard, when five to six teens apparently pulled him off, beating him before stealing the bike.

His head and ribs were fractured, his nose was broken, and those who work beside him are shocked and angry.

CNN has been broadcasting it non-stop all day, with interviews of his friends and family, his service in WW2 where he, as an 18 yr old soldier, was shot in battle, to the kindnesses he had always shown to others. A discussion clip about this case lasting 5-10 minutes of every hour.

Which is why I now know that one of the attackers is in custody, charged with robbery and murder, and they have the name and a headshot of the second attacker, which has been released to the press.

In fact, every major news network has been covering this story, and covering it widely.

Up until yesterday (mid day Friday) this wasnt a blurb on the news media's radar...it happened Wednesday night. All day Thursday it was headlines all over the internet bloggers sites. It wasnt until the story picked up traction by the internet that the story was picked up by the main stream media...Friday afternoon.

International news groups were running the story Thursday but our media didnt pick up on it until Friday...a day after international media was already running with the story. It was all over Facebook Thursday.

It just wasnt important to the US media at the time.

Apparently they were too busy telling everyone Ben Aflac (sp?) was going to be the new Batman.
