Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.[W:123]

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

Oh well I know but I am not going to tell you. I remember that argument from elementary school. You made the claim, now tell us what the damage was that you think was so obvious.

I told you. It was in a post of mine you already quoted. Take a couple deep breaths. Calm down.

If it is obvious it is not a secret and you can point to it specifically.

I did. You quoted it.

if it is vague and obscured then we do not know what that is.

Oh, I'm sure there's some of those, too.

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

Well, do explain it for all the other people so it makes sense.

I'll give it one last shot. Let's say you are a smoking hot 22 year old, peace loving, hearing impaired girl living in a low rent part of town. How much sense would it make to put a sign up in the front yard that said: "A smoking hot deaf girl lives here. There are no guns in this house, and the back door lock is broken. Have a great evening!"

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

Yep.

No. They tried to make the most compelling case for the sentence and not risk it devolving into subjectivity.

But the actual part where they hand down a punishment is subjective. The punishment varies because of the effects of the actual criminal act. These prosecutors who were seeking a much longer sentence suddenly decided to not present the obvious evidence during the stage of the trial that is subjective and deals with dealing down punishment that fits the crime by evaluating the effects of the person's actions. Why would you use such an obvious lie on me unless you thought i was stupid and you could get away with it?

Calm down.

So you are telling all of us you actually believe that the prosecutors who were seeking the highest possible penalty for manning all of a sudden shut up and did not give their evidence of the damage he caused at the point of the trial where it is procedure to present that evidence to show how severe the effects of the crime were; you are telling us that those prosecutors just did not do that. Your believe this story? You are really not being insulting to me by using such a bad pile of BS, you actually believe it.

lol what?

really, i am not that gullible to fall for that. You are going to have to do better than that.

I should hope so, because I just told you how Manning incontrovertibly harmed the US and you ignored it. At least now I know why. What does the cloud look like up there? Do you see a puppy dog?

The moon is made of cheese. I just told you the moon was made of cheese. I guess now you must believe the moon is made of cheese because someone made the vague and unsupported claim. Look, free cheese in the sky. Now if you would actually like to make a real argument feel free to show us specifics instead of vague unsupported claims.

That made sense to you? It's cool, you have proven we are on two different planes of intelligence. I will let others make their own judgments on what levels those are based on that comment. You are right, I am not capable of getting that.

I'm beginning to think you're stupid based upon how emotional you're being about this, actually. They wanted to deal with what Manning was actually found guilty of: theft and espionage. No get back into things that the jury already decided they weren't going to buy into.

Yes. Stop getting so upset. It's making you look dumb.

I dunno, man...

I posted it. You quoted that post, but ignored that portion of it. Lemme know if you need me to quote myself, I will.

Well, if you don't understand something as simply put as I made it for you, there is simply no hope in getting you to understand why information becomes classified. Perhaps it's an impairment.

Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

It would only sound debatable to someone that doesn't understand the laws behind safegaurding classified information or in having a security clearance.

It's dangerous to commit treason in any days.

Umm have you been paying attention the past decade? Treason, in most instances is celebrated...

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

Ok, ya, he should have done like the climategate leaker did and edit the emails to eliminate any identification of the leaker.

Snowden however, has really done nothing wrong... Except to let people get an idea of the true scope of information surveillance going on... Oh and I'm sure everyone has forgotten about the "gunshot detecting microphones" that started going up everywhere (to varying degrees of implementation), so, even conversations on the street can be potentially detected... Just saying.

The people doing the damage aren't the people who are disturbed by what they see going on in their daily lives, and feel the need to let people know... It's the people doing the criminal s*** in the first place doing the damage.

Snowden's biggest threat is his spilling how we operate to the Russians and then giving them something similar. What Snowden released wasn't inherently bad and did tell us that we are living in a Big Brother state. Snowden also exacerbated the problems that Manning's release of the cables did. Manning's releases I find hard to believe can or did do damage. Snowden knows how our intel system works. That is a real threat. I think as a society we should know we're being spied on like crazy, but at the same time, I can't find sympathy in running to Russia and likely giving them everything he knows in return for safety.

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

I read some of the material leaked by Manning. Most is junk, the majority didn't even apply to present operations at the time and other documents had nothing to do with what was going on

I have a hard time finding anything Manning released that was materially harmful to America. There are PR issues of course, but hardly what they make it out to be.

IMO, Manning exposed absolutely nothing useful other than the fact some of our "highly trained military personnel" were acting like cowboys.

Like the Apache pilot gunning down civilians? That was bad. And that Iraqi civilian casualties were much higher? Bad. I think he did expose the fact that our diplomats are competent was useful.

Once Saddam was gone we should have packed up and left..... The fact we didn't turned the United States from heros to occupiers really quick and they (Iraqi's didn't like that).

That would have made things worse. At least we had a chance to turn Iraq pro-west. We failed at that, but getting out early would have ensured that Iran took regional influence.

Hello? tererun? Did you find my post? Do I need to quote it for you again? Lemme know, man!

Perhaps, but it's still illegal.

Prison won't be too kind to that soft, pretty-faced little boy.

Apparently he is a she now. Who knew.

I think He should be able to attire himself in a dress in prison. No pantyhose because he might try to hang himself with them. But if he wants to dress like a dame-I say, by all means let him

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

Regardless of what you think of the actions the individual took- and regardless of how hard it is to think of Manning as a 'she'- you should still try your hardest to respect that difficult decision.

And this is coming from someone who's disappointed Manning only got 35.

the real annoying thing about that clown was that his motivations weren't some misguided by honest belief he was trying to help the world or uncover wrong doing Rather he was a spiteful little wimp and he was raging at a system that did not have much use for his "issues"

It was nothing more than back stabbing revenge by the little coward

I agree, and I suspect she'll be a very popular prisoner.

I agree. You're gonna put state security and policy on the line because you feel like you weren't coddled enough? GET THE **** OUT OF HERE. At least have your heart in the right place with your head in the wrong one. Manning gave no thought to what she (trying to be respectful of the decision and the phenomena, even if I don't give a **** about the person) was doing and lashed out the only way she knew how. Her leadership failed, of course, and she's the one that failed by far the most. Just pathetic.

What amazes me about snowden is that he was a whistleblower in freedom land and goes to find refuge in the aftermath in the land of Russia.

Re: Bradley Manning sentenced to 35 years.

He should spend life in prison. And not one penny of US tax payer money spent on so called hormone therapy. If any therapy then therapy to get him to settle with the fact that he has a dick and thus is a guy, period.

Apparently he is a she now. Who knew.

I think he's playing that card so he can end up in a different wing, perhaps the women's wing, perhaps in his mind this will protect him from the other prisoners. Pathetic.

I've read that there are more incidents of male-on-male rape in the military than in federal prison.
