Well on the rare occasion it sneaks in we ridicule it, call it names & hope it grows tired of our childishness and goes far away to a place where it can be appreciated.

Just thought that shooting anyone that day would be fun! :shock:

These kids are tasting the power of guns the wrong life demeaning (to them and others) way. They should have been educated prior to issuing a gun. If not formal education then what happened to the good old passage or rite?

How it makes the US look? You think Aussies are going to hold the entire US responsible for the actions of three evil assholes? That's ridiculous.

I can tell you that the family of the young man are very grateful to his American friends and family for embracing their son during his time in the. They are not ashamed.

Realities such as these build a certain stigma. One that can have a lasting impact on the way perceive the U.S..

Aussie athletes ages 16-18 are going to remember this for at least a few years.

A man worried about his neighborhood called police about a suspisious persons and was attacked by said person and had to kill said person to avoid being killed himself.
Its called self defence and pretty much was proven in court.
Not guilty. Remember that, say it slow. NOT GUILTY.

You're describing Chicago perfectly. This is a Chicago-like incident that took place in Oklahoma.

This would hardly be noteworthy in Chicago.

If not the draft per se, I favor mandatory service to the country. If you choose to do that in the military, fine. If you do that as a free teacher or an internship filling potholes and picking up trash, OK.

Other countries have mandatory military service. I don't see why we shouldn't have some sort of mandatory service.

1. It would get them off the streets

2. It would teach them a little discipline and self-respect

3. It would teach them a skill

They have that in South Korea, and they're doing alright. From what I was able to tell, when they reach a certain age, they take a test that determines whether they will become a SK Soldier, a KATUSA (Korean Soldier working for the US Army), or a police officer. I'm sure there's a lot more to it, but that's how it was explained to me by the KATUSA's I worked with.
