Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Has Missed Half Of Obamacare's Legally Imp

Re: Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Has Missed Half Of Obamacare's Legally

no
it made them pay into a system many people opposed

there was strong opposition to social security when it was launched, just as there is now strong opposition to Obama care
Obamacare will survive just as social security survived

Obama-kare won't survive in it's present form. It need an overhaul. Actually, it need to be junked just like the fool that proposed it in the first place.

Name calling is such intelligent discourse.

A rose by any other name...

yes
movement is underway to convert it to the single payer system that it needs to be
Obama should have expanded medicare to be no longer subject to age restrictions on his first day in office
he foolishly thought he should involve the republicans in the nation's health care discussion, and this insurance based system is the result

Re: Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Has Missed Half Of Obamacare's Legally

No clue. I support nothing or UHC, just not this system that has way too many flaws and forces people to buy from private companies when they may have no desire to. It is bad legal precedence.

Like car insurance perhaps?

I see UHC as a non starter for Cons, too much like 'socialism' for them... their mantra is an 'improved' private insurance plan. I see a series of steps to something like UHC

Perhaps I'm misreading your post, but are you suggesting that had the Republicans been allowed to participate in the discussions, we wouldn't have the insuranced based system Democrats came up with?

Medicare is so good you need supplemental insurance.

Re: Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Has Missed Half Of Obamacare's Legally

Medicare is so good you need supplemental insurance.

Medicare is a basic insurance plan, that does just what it was designed to do. Provide basic, affordable medical insurance that seniors didn't have before. You can 'upgrade' the basic medicare plan to whatever level of coverage you can afford or want. Supplemental plans run from zero to hundreds of dollars.

Most people's supplemental plans are primarily for prescription drugs. To get Medicare drug coverage, you must join a plan run by an insurance company or other private company approved by Medicare. Each plan can vary in cost and drugs covered.

That's why some people prefer expanding medicare to everyone. Everyone would have basic coverage and you would have the choice to upgrade coverage to whatever level you could afford.

I so luv me some right wing logic: To wit - "IF those librul Dems don't do exactly what we real true Amurricans demand, then it is those commie Democraps who are to blame for shutting down America! God bless the Red, White and Blue!"

LOL. Listen to yourself.

A law was passed by budget process and signed by the President. The President decides not to follow the law he signed. In fact, he is in violation of several different laws by not following the law he signed. The GOP has a potential solution to a huge disaster for America via the same method that it was passed. The budget process. All of the threats of shutting down the government and other type actions have came from the Democrats. Obamacare can easily be separated from all other parts of the budget to avoid shutting down the government. If Obama wants to shut down the government over Obamacare, he probably could by not signing any part of a budget. But that would be on him. And lets not pretend, forget, play like or lie about; not one single poll of American citizens has shown that a majority of us ever wanted Obamacare to begin with. Does that even sound like the type democracy in action Americans should expect when passing any law? Especially one that was supposed to last forever, not just a year? Kind of sort of sounds like "those commie Democraps" you are talking about doesn't it? And notice, I never demanded anything. All the GOP house has to do is refuse to fund a horrible law and the house is exactly where budget bills are supposed to be born.

GOP lawmakers split on threat to shut down government over Obamacare – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

Several conservative senators - including Marco Rubio of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky - have largely given voice to the threat of a government shutdown. And a bloc of about 71 House Republicans say they will refuse to vote for a measure that funds the government if it continues to fund the Affordable Care Act.

Blog: House Republicans say grass roots support building for government shutdown

House conservatives say grassroots support is building for their effort to risk a government shutdown to defund ObamaCare.

Conservatives who back the strategy said their spines have been stiffened by support at town-hall meetings.

"I have not heard, 'Don't shut down the government over ObamaCare,'" Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-Ind.) said, referring to meetings with his constituents over the recess. "I have heard, 'This law is not ready for primetime, and we need to do anything we can to stop it.'

There are rational people on the right but it looks more and more like the irrational are gaining control of the GOP - and it will pay the consequences
GOP Rep. Says Pelosi Will Become Speaker if Republicans Try to Defund Obamacare

A GOP Rep. said if Republicans follow through on a threat to shutdown the government in order to defund Obamacare, it could backfire on them.

It would return the majority in the House to the Democrats and Nancy Pelosi would become speaker again, said Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger.

"Eventually, there will be a collapse of will to keep the government shut down because soldiers are not getting paid and all this other stuff is happening. And we turn around and we lose 10 to 20 seats in 2014," Kinzinger said at a meeting with constituents this week

GOP poll finds Republicans would fare worst in government shutdown

Washington • Republicans would face a big share of the blame for a government shutdown over blocking funding for the Affordable Care Act, a new poll by a conservative group shows.

The poll — which sampled voters in Utah Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson’s 4th Congressional District and nine other GOP-leaning districts nationwide — shows more than 28 percent of those surveyed would find Republicans at fault if the federal government were shuttered in an "Obamacare"

So keep on dreamin' about Democrats threatening to shut down government operations but dreams aren't always connected to reality.

Read what you are posting. The GOP plan isn't to shut down the government to stop Obamacare. What I see in the articles you list are the words "risk", "threats", "share of the blame" and so on. The only people I've heard that it blocking Obamacare would, without doubt, shut down the government has come from the Dems. They want to use that, like always as the fear mongers that they are. But there is no need at all for the government to shut down for one minute just to defund Obamacare. The Dems can scream all they want, lie all they want, fear monger all they want, but the government doesn't have to be shut down to defund it.

Pelosi as speaker of the House again? LOL. Not impossible but that's really about the last thing the Dems really want going into 2016. Look what happened to them last time around with her running the house.

Re: Unpublished CRS Memo: Obama Administration Has Missed Half Of Obamacare's Legally

If that's the goal, then they shouldn't have gotten rid of catastrophic insurance plans. After all, if it covers everything, its not insurance.

One of the goals was to define coverage (bronze, silver, etc.) in the exchanges to make it easier for people to understand the coverage that they are buying. Another goal was to help protect insurance buyers from the freeloaders using medical services and sticking everyone else with the costs by establishing minimum coverage requirements.

It depends on what one would define as 'catastrophic'. The Bronze plan coverage is 60/40 (Medicare is 80/20) and neither covers everything (thus the Medicare Supplemental options). Personally I would put the Bronze plan in the 'catastrophic' category. Others may not.

The 'goal', IMO, is to have minimum comprehensive coverage for everyone with choices to upgrade to whatever your bank account desires.
