Fingerprinting as a means of identification seems like a great idea. Once Blomie has the idea perfected, it can be used for voter ID. Eliminating most of the arguments against it.

Bloomberg seems to view public political office as a private social experiment.

In the one or the other view it, sure. But just like anything else, there is a lot of room between one and the other. Bloomberg is pretty close to one end of it.

These kinds of ideas seem to keep emanating from certain types of people....
Free money/housing DOES in fact have strings attached.......

When people are dependent on government they need to do as they're told -- that's why the government wants everyone dependent on them - from healthcare to food...

Bloomberg is a fascist authoritarian tyrant....

Pelosi, Obama and the rest of the ilk are no different - they just use different means at times to achieve the ultimate government supremacy....

Probable cause exists for a very good reason. The state has no business violating peoples privacy unless they have sufficient evidence to suggest criminal activity. Bloombergs stop and frisk debacle demonstrates exactly why such programs are prone to abuse and shouldn't exist. Targeting people in public housing is nothing more than an abuser picking victims with the least ability to fight back.

Fingerprinting is not actually as reliable as popular media makes it out to be, and databases especially are seriously inaccurate. The odds that innocent people will be "matched" and convicted are especially high for people in public housing who can't afford decent lawyers.

    Both are stupid ideas.

What I've learned from this thread is that gun ownership and personal liberty aren't for poor people.

Did you just call Bloomberg a fascist authoritarian tyrant while simultaneously supporting what he's proposing?

I support drug testing not finger printing...

I don't support Bloombergs fascist authoritarian nonsense ideas.

Bloomberg just wants everybody's finger prints on file - as does our government as a whole. I'm shocked he's not asking for DNA to boot..
