True that. "Oh, officer (your honor, Dad whatever) I'm so sorry that I got caught. It won't happen again, I promise to be sneakier about it."

Kids are different from adults for the very reason that we don't let kids drink alcohol, gamble or vote - which is, they are immature and do not have the same capacity as adults to make sound judgement. Why would we treat a kid the same as an adult that commits an assault when we as a society have already deemed that kids do stupid things because their judgement is not developed. Punish them? Absolutely Punish them harshly? Absolutely if it fits the crime. Try them as adults? Why? When he as a society have recognized that kids should not be allowed to drink, gamble vote because their judgement is questionable. Otherwise...aren't we being a wee bit hypocritical as a society?

That's right buddy, all us guys have seen it. Your problem is you forget that usually don't see it, and no one talked about it either. This was caught on video for the world to see. The cat's out of the bag now, and something has to been done. The school bus driver was forced to stand on the sideline and watch. That wouldn't have happened in our day. If a teacher or bus driver was around and able to stop it, they would have.

We do not saddle children with adult penalties in law (generally speaking) because of diminished mens rea. Where teens demonstrate their actions are committed with adult mens rea they, in some jurisdictions, are tried in adult court with adult penalties.

Whatever else they can or cannot do legally at their age is superfluous.

i suspect many of us have already formed our opinion based on racist drivel we have seen in posts

I'll tell why there's no talk of race. The 15 year old black perps got out of this alive. If the 13 year old white boy had shot them all, you'd see the Trayvon Martin supporters out on the streets. There is zero doubt in my mind.

I doubt this beating was racially motivated, just like the Trayvon Martin shooting wasn't racially motivated. The race baiting appears afterward by those who use race at every turn to win political points.

No we are not. We are prudent to start punishing offenders as early as possible. This was a violent vicious attack for no real reason.

There are dangerous people in the world but you make a choice about when to turn to cynicism and start calling it realism, it's a matter of perception not reality, therefore subjective. I understand the notion of someone really being too far gone to reach. I am certain however I would make that call at a very different place than most conservatives.

Yea, thanks to your attitude. This is what we have on buses now a days. Violent beatings over being snitched on by older stronger kids on the weak ones. Hope you are proud.

    Depends on the crime.
Murder or rape? One strike and your out for me.
Beating someone on a bus? Well if the person isn't disabled for life, you can have one more strike.
