“What I meant, and should have said, is that it is not, in my personal opinion, in the interests of the Republican Party to spend its own time and energy working to generally increase the number of Democratic voters at the polls, and at this point in time, nine of every ten African American voters cast their votes for the Democratic Party,” he wrote.

But it is clearly in the interest of the Republican Party to keep them from voting.

First, they couldn't give a hoot about voter ID laws.
They know there will be almost no one that can legally vote that will not be able to vote because of these laws. Their concern is that those that are not eligible to vote won't be able to cast votes for democrats. That is it. It goes no further than that. You are a fool if you come on here and argue that they are concerned with the poor not being able to vote.
Horse****. The Republicans want to make sure as few poor people as possible vote. So they're willing to take a Big Government solution that doesn't even solve the problem it allegedly is supposed to address. Of the voter fraud that occurs, the vast majority wont be stopped by voter ID laws. Wonder why the righties aren't going after absentee ballots, where the majority of fraud occurs?

Oh, because absentee ballots swing a bit to the right.

Are you making the claim that people who go to Church on Sunday, and there are millions of them, won't be able to vote?

They used to vote on this last Sunday before the election. We know the game. It cost you the last election. Just more mind games by repups to use the old Nixon strategy of make it as a negative as you can. Drive up the negatives on Dems, as we see with Mrs. Clinton right now.

They swing a whole hot to the fright-wing. We know the repups were recruiting in Florida nursing homes where the good folks had extreme Alzheimer's.

You don't appear to have made a point here. Are you sure you're on the right thread?

People engage in racist behavior, they get called on it, and that's playing the race card? ... come on, the GOP has written off or alienated the fastest growing and youngest voter groups ... all they got left is voter suppression and they need to be called on it ... and, yes, one of the groups they've targeted is blacks ... another is Latinos ... I wish them luck with that strategy ...

Point 1) Votes lost due to not being able to vote that Sunday, maybe. But you knew that and we keep playing this silly game of 10th amendment/civil war mentality. Point 2) What does "it cost you the last election" by trying to cheat do you not get? Every sentence had at least one point.

What 'voter suppression' are you referring to? Whose vote is being suppressed? Hillary, like every recent Democrat candidate, has to play the race card. She is her own moral free zone.

Re: Why Hillary Clinton is going after voter ID laws?

Sorry, but the rationale behind the voter ID laws is chasing a problem that doesn't exist, all the meanwhile making it more difficult and more expensive (for taxpayers, recipients of free/reduced fee IDs, and those who have to pay normal fees) for explicitly legitimate voters to vote as they had previously. What's the pressing need to do more harm than any potential good? Forget about the discussion of minority civil rights for a moment. To me it's just bad public policy.
