Obama Cancels Meeting with Russia's Putin over Snowden Decision.....

It's really not surprising. Given Putin is just as full of himself as Obama, it's not a shock that he doesn't buy Obama's act. The strut, the phony smile, the thrusting handshake. That doesn't work with everyone.

And did you see Obama on Leno? One of his incredible blunders was saying Putin had been head of the KGB. He can get away with stuff like that on shows like that because no one was there to call him on it. That happens here a lot too.

Good morning, Bubba. :2wave:

It's always interesting when huge egos clash! Makes following the news both informative and scary!

Heya Bubba :2wave: .....heres what Time has since the Obama snub.

Putin has not yet replied to Obama’s snub, but most experts found it hard to see how he could spin it in his favor. “He can again say that he did not bow to American demands, that he did not obey,” says Alexander Konovalov, an expert on U.S.-Russia affairs at the Moscow Institute of International Relations. But that message has grown hackneyed over the past year of bickering between Moscow and Washington, so it will not earn him many points with the domestic electorate, adds Konovalov.

The only ones who seemed to be celebrating Obama’s snub on Wednesday were some of Putin’s harshest critics. “Putin thrives on these joint appearances to show his cronies that he’s an equal on the global stage despite his lack of credentials, and that he can protect their interests abroad,” says Garry Kasparov, the former world chess champion who helped lead the anti-Putin protests last year. “I’m glad Obama is finally showing some spine with regard to Putin,” he says. “This cancellation is a welcome start.”

But other opposition leaders were less sanguine. Leonid Gozman, a liberal politician, said Obama could have done more for the opposition’s cause by showing up in Moscow as planned. “He could at least have met with activists, spoken at a university, explained his message in an interview to the Russian press,” Gozman says. “Back in 1972, our country was like a concentration camp without fences, and Nixon still came to meet Brezhnev. They ended up talking through their problems. Everybody won.” But those were the days of detente between Moscow and Washington — a word that hardly applies to the current state of affairs.

Mr. Obama's "Stay-home-and-pout" stance casts the US as the one walking
away from an opportunity to discuss issues such as Syria, Iran, nuclear arms, etc.
Early in his presidency, during his dealings with Congress, it was said that Mr. Obama
is "a great poker player". It seems hard to believe as so often he just folds!

Would it really be a discussion or a one-sided rant by dictator Putin?
Putin signed a law allowing police officers to arrest tourists and foreign nationals they suspect of being homosexual, lesbian or “pro-gay” and detain them for up to 14 days. Contrary to what the International Olympic Committee says, the law could mean that any Olympic athlete, trainer, reporter, family member or fan who is gay — or suspected of being gay, or just accused of being gay — can go to jail.

Well it can't be any rant.....since he has not commented on anything yet.

You don't leak classified information on what MAY be illegal. Snowden belongs in jail since he admitted to doing it. As for a pony show, I'm quite enjoying it actually. To see the right decry a program that THEIR guy they voted for used is hillarious. Yet they now decry Obama doing it.

It's amazing the justification the right is trying to use for leaking classified information. "May" be illegal? Gimme a break.

Oh, I get it now. If the government is doing something illegal, you can't do any thing about it. A person is supposed to just allow them to continue to commit their criminal activity. At least if the President is a leftist, anyway.

Like I said, I don't know if it was illegal or not. I think it was/is. It is an unreasonable invasion of privacy for any free people and I'm one that's big on security measure's. Every phone, call, every e-mail? Screw them and screw Obama.

Once again, I see you try to blame what one person does on another. Last time it was Starr when Clinton was to blame. This time it's Bush, when Obama is to blame. Why is it that you don't want to hold a Democrat to a reasonable standard that you are so eager to pass off on a Republican? Reminds me of games my kids use to play to avoid getting in trouble.

What ILLEGAL thing is the government doing? You haven't shown it to be illegal or unconsitutional by court or by Congress. People may not like it, but not liking something is not a reason to commit a felony.

And what you THINK is irrelevant. What is legal is what is relevant and nothing of the NSA program has been found to be illegal or unconsitutional.

If you bothered to read I blamed Starr AND Clinton, but don't let facts get in the way of your reading comprehension failure.

As for Snowden, yes, I blame a man who commited an ILLEGAL act against a LEGAL act.

When you can show with FACTS that the program has found to be illegal, come back and talk. Until then, piss off with your partisan hackery. This has NOTHING to do with a DEM, this program has been used by MULTIPLE presidents.

Hold on just a minute leftist. You are jumping the gun by a long shot.

Snowden hasn't been convicted of anything. You don't seem to be concerned about Constitutional protections about privacy, now you don't seem to be concerned about being presumed innocent until found guilty. Why is that leftist? You don't know that he is guilty of a damn thing and you want to rant at me for what I think. LOL. Dude, until leftist such as yourself complete the overthrow of the Constitution you are pissing in the wind. You already have the man convicted, all because you back a leftist President.

I never said I have a problem with him being charged with a crime and I think if fact he should be. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm glad he did what he did because what Obamas government is doing is completely unreasonable and I think un-Constitutional. But like I said earlier, you probably don't want to be reminded, it's all going to have to be sorted out in a court room. If Snowden ever does end up in a courtroom in America, and I doubt it because Obama doesn't really want him to, some of the things I've listed is exactly what his lawyers will be bringing up. It would take only one person on the jury that feels that Obama exceeded his authority and Snowden walks. So get off your pretend high horse and come back down to planet earth. However if he were convicted, he would have to do the time like any other convict.

And my reading comprehension is fine. After being goated into it, you finally got around to owning up that Clinton lied. I'm sure it hurt. If your health allows and you are old enough, considered taking two aspirin or something.

Putin sent a response out.....but not to Obama.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram on Thursday to his old sparring partner, former U.S. President George W. Bush, wishing him a quick recovery from heart surgery.

It may have been coincidence that the Kremlin released details of the telegram a day after Barack Obama pulled out of a planned summit with Putin, but little is left to chance in Russian politics.

The warm words to the man who once said he looked Putin in the eye and got a "sense of his soul" highlighted how different the relationship is between the leaders in the Kremlin and the White House now.

Bush described Putin years later as cold blooded, and ties soured over the war between Russia and Georgia which began five years ago this week, but there was respect and camaraderie on display when they first met as presidents in June 2001.

While Putin stakes a lot on personal relationships, Obama likes to focus more on the business at hand, diplomats say. But Obama eventually became frustrated with the lack of progress in Russian-U.S. ties and the failure to build a more constructive relationship.

With differences piling up on problems from Syria to human rights and democracy, Obama vented his frustration on Tuesday after Russia refused to hand over former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden and granted him a year's asylum.

There appears little hope now that relations will improve during Obama's second presidential term. One of the main foreign policy goals of his first term - the "reset" in relations with Moscow - has now unwound.....snip~

In wishing Bush well, Putin has message for Obama

If the government isn't doing anything wrong, then it shouldn't mind someone telling the world what it is doing.

Anyway, that's the justification for allowing the government to spy on us, isn't it?

That's just it. It is wrong and they know it. That's why the head of the NSA told a bald face lie to congress. Caught red handed, Obama still hasn't fired him. A President of the United States of America allowing his head of the NSA to lie to congress?

Heya IAF. :2wave: He's out.....Obama picked Susan Rice to head the NSA. Which means were really screwed.

SNOWDEN ADMITTED to releasing classified information. You can whine and cry about "innocent until proven guilty" but he admitted he did it. That would be like saying "Hold on wait a minute, that guy that kidnapped those 3 girls and held them isn't found guilty". No ****, but the crime was admitted to. That was an admission of guilt.

It would take only one person on the jury that feels that Obama exceeded his authority and Snowden walks. So get off your pretend high horse and come back down to planet earth. However if he were convicted, he would have to do the time like any other convict.

And a jury would take a look at the EVIDENCE. Why are undisclosed (conservatives) so ****ing stupid.

I admitted it long ago, ago you need to learn how to read. I NEVER said he didn't lie. So take your partisan hackery and shove it.

LOL. There you go again leftist, trashing the constitution, trashing a mans rights and you don't even know where he got that information from or who he got it from. You just assume he did it all by himself, you assume the information he released met the legal requirements to be classified to begin with (lots of it doesn't but maybe you never had any dealings with such info), you assume plenty. Snowden would want all that kind of stuff to come out in a courtroom. The government wouldn't. Governments lawyers very well might have plenty to sweat about in this case.

Juries do look at evidence and if just one member thinks Obama exceeded his authority or everything else isn't just right with the charges, Snowden walks. Why are leftists so ******* stupid.

I had it figured it out.....even before it began. Course I have known about Obama before Stardom and the Camera tapped his brain.

Does anyone else know of your genius besides you?
