A little humor about politicians is good. We shouldn't be putting any of them up on this colossal pedestal as if they are godlike.

It is probably true that most comedians may be liberal so that bias does come out as it does every stinking human here. But both sides shouldn't be so thin skinned as to accept some ribbing.

There are limits and this is where the conservatives often get in trouble. The president and first wife are fair game but one should never make fun of minor children. McCain was a prime example of being an ass when he said "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." That tops the list of truly assinine things for a mature adult to say about a kid. On the other hand I though both Bushes were good at making fun of themselves and taking it in stride.

Well, I think at times we all can be a little 'thin skinned', however, I think you and I for the most part are agreeing from what I see.
 
I think the RNC should write a letter demanding equal or threaten a boycott!

I am pretty sure you grow a thick skin by the time you are on the national stage and jokes and comments probably do not bother them as much as you think. I know you are trying desperately to make it seem like the liberals are complaining like crying kids because it makes you feel better, and you are also trying to make the point they do not get made fun of which tends to make little to no sense considering your other argument, but I am pretty sure all of them get made fun of and if they were actually snapping and weeping on national TV because some late night host made fun of them we would all have a good laugh at the person who did it, and they would never make it to the point of being a nationally known politician.

i do have to give you credit for playing the victim and tough guy card in the same hand. Most people would not say that their side was the only ones being made fun of, and that their opponents were acting like babies when they got made fun of in the same argument. Perhaps you could pick up both of those cards and chose which one you want to play. Are conservatives and republicans the victims and are the only ones made fun of, or are the democrats crying like babies when they get made fun of?

Well, of course I am a bit confused. I do not see why dems are crying over something you say does not happen. You say the comedians are making fun of the reps alone, but then you say the dems show a consistent streak of being bothered because they are mocked. If they are not being mocked how can they be bothered by it? What you are saying does not make sense because you are romneying.

Hey, here's a fun thing, instead of trying to tell me what you think I am saying, or doing, how's about you simply address the points in front of you. The trouble you are having is that you seem to not be reading what I am writing, but rather just as I have posed, you are assigning what you think is being said, and from what I am reading, getting upset because you think I am somehow slighting you, or "liberal's" in the process...This is exactly what I am talking about.

I guarantee if we were in a social setting talking about this, you would have already started raising your voice, and, or starting to show hints of anger in the conversation.

Maybe, or possibly we are just trying to have an honest conversation without the center of every discussion being how repubs, or conservatives are the ****ed up ones, and gain some truly introspective thought from our political opponents....Think that could ever happen? I wonder....;)

OH, don't get me wrong...I love Stewart, and Colbert...I think that they are masters at pointing out republican phopa's, and turning them into funny bits...No, what I am talking about is not that it happens on both sides, but rather the reactions to when it happens...I just think it is interesting...So if you find reason to mock, and make fun of that I feel sorry for you, because you display the insecurity you are making fun of....;)
 
More work needed on that introspection. Clue: This thread is full of mockery and a sole whine.

I have no doubt that at the moment they are laughing along with the crowd...However, let's see if that continues as the election season gets closer, and the jokes continue....

I have come to learn that political jokes basically write themselves. (That is why the GOP, in my opinion, gets the lion's share of them, but I digress.) Of course, the higher the position, the more valuable the joke, I suppose. That would place any POTUS in the line of jokes regardless of political party affiliation.

I love a good Obama joke myself.

Yep, and in most cases the target opens themselves up for it....In those cases of benign funny, it is all good, and I think that as adults we can all have a good laugh at ourselves, but do you deny that there are also malicious, and vitriolic comedians out there, like for example a Bill Mahr that take it to a whole other level that divides rather than allow a release of division through comedy?

See, believe it or not, some over the top stuff even about Obama, I don't care for, and don't think is funny in the slightest...but that is just me.

Yeah, the Bill Mahr's and Dennis Miller's of the world give a very bad name to comedy. But what else can they do. Neither of them are actually funny compared to other comedians on a national level. All they have left is to suck up to their base followers and tell them what they want to hear. And when they get their tit's in a wringer they always say, "Hey, I'm just a comedian doing my job." They pick and choose the times they should be taken seriously it seems. I see through their bull****.
