It is a slow process. A year ago, Fenton would blast the CRA as the cause of the financial crisis. After multiple "discussions", he has shifted his private-sector apologism and now claims GSE's are to blame. In a year, he will learn to blame the nature of the business cycle in conjunction with deregulation of the financial sector since the 1980's.

He'll come around. Conservative is a lost cause.
It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion.

Meanwhile Kushinator just keeps apologizing and justifying government, corporate, and investment banking mistakes. He always has some "justifiabe reason" why this or that "blip" has had no truly negative effect on our wonderously glowing economy. Sheesh.
If I stop responding it doesn't mean I've conceded the point or agree with you. It only means I've made my point and I don't mind you having the last word. Please wait a few minutes before "quoting" me. I often correct errors for a minute or two after I post before the final product is ready.

When a business like Wal-Mart enters a community there is short-term benefit and long-term loss, both to the local economy and the general economy at large. As stated, the money used to purchase these cheap items leaves the community and goes overseas to pay foreign workers and buy foreign resources.

Meanwhile Wal-Mart employees also use most of their low wages primarily to buy at the Wal-Mart store. Wal-Mart becomes the biggest local employer and the community becomes completely dependent on it giving it significant economic and political power.

The cycle continues at every locale a new Wal-Mart springs up. It's like a frickin virus, and it needs to be cured.

Sory folks, I have him on ignore so I can't directly respond to any of his garbage. It was his fervent wish so I granted it. LOL.

I understand how it works, I just don't like it. In keeping with that I never shop there either, so I am already doing my small part.

Someone told me COSTCO provided better wages and benefits and benefits and I just noticed my first Costco in Houston after 40 years of living here.

So do you have to buy a membership to shop at Costco and if not then let the two Titan stores battle it out.

Real estate backed mortgage securities derive their value from the cash flow streams of mortgage payments. Bundling alternative risk classes is a private securitization method used to hide risk and provide high beta returns. The risk of a security is determined by the quality of the underlying mortgages that represent them, and hence a MBS composed of low FICO score borrowers should (by definition) should raise red flags by risk managers.

    You seem confused.

Absolutely false! The data is what is important, and you have nothing.

Toxic securities were primarily composed of adjustable rate mortgages, which were much more likely to go into default than standard fixed rate mortgages. Between 2001 and 2008, 88% of all mortgages purchased by GSE's were fixed. This varies heavily with respect to private mortgage origination and securitization, of which 70% of all private label loans were made up of ARM's.

You cannot even define a toxic MBS, nor do you understand the fundamentals of bond pricing
necessary to make such determinist statements.
FFS Kush, defined using who's definition ?

The one that mitigates the actions of Fannie Mae as they lowered their standards year after year after year, buying up more loans with less and less capital requirements and eventually getting into NINA loans right when their regulator was warning Congress in 2004 of their impending doom ?

Your'e so married to this corrupt liberal ideology your'e now making excuses and creating new definitions. Your'e arguing that anything outside of prime was ok, with the small exception of ARMS...

Well then how in the f*** did we have a systemic market collapse Kush ?

So your'e telling me that the 40 billion a month of MBSs our FED is now purchasing are all ARMs ? Because they're all from Fannie and Freddie.

And the 5 TRILLION that got transfered over to our Treasury from Fannie and Freddie consist solely of fixed rate mortgages ? 1.7 of that is CRA by the way, those clean perfect mortgages that were offered to people who were at or below the 80% median income range of their community.

Because that was the baseDEFINITION of a CRA loan.

And yes, Fannie Mae started this sh** in 1997 and by 2000 .

Hell by 2008 Fannie and Freddie held over 70% of all crap mortages or MBSs backed by crap mortgages.

Were you even around from 2000-2008 Kush ? You don't remember the Libs sitting in front of Republican chaired committees lying about the health of Fannie and Freddie ?

I do. Do you need a reminder ?

As people are pushed out of jobs by Chinese imports, the research found a substantial increase in government transfer payments to individuals in the form of things like unemployment insurance and disability benefits.

The potential offset is that US consumers (including families affected by job losses) reap benefits from access to lower-cost goods from China.

An important conclusion of the new research, however, is that the economic losses to the US may be roughly equal in size to those gains for consumers.

The government "transfers fall far short of offsetting the large decline in average household incomes found in local labor markets that are most heavily exposed to China trade," write Hanson and his colleagues. And as the use of public benefits goes up, "our estimates imply that the losses in economic efficiency ... are, in the medium run, of the same order of magnitude as US consumer gains from trade with China." How much does US-China trade hurt American workers? Slowly, a clearer picture. - CSMonitor.com
It may be a great exercise in academic circles to say that losses in jobs are made up in lower cost in goods, but try to tell that to the family that no longer has the job with the rent, electric, and grocery bills due right now. You can't be a consumer without a job.

Also, I don't think your comment is limited to China is it?
Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

Oh, I agree. I think the job is more important than cheap goods. And, China was just my example.
