Obama to propose 'grand bargain' on corporate tax rate, infrastructure

Romney was a much better qualified individual that Obama. The country is getting what it deserves for electing an incompetent for a second term. You see results don't matter to someone like you. I am for cleaning house completely starting with Obama.

we just did a house cleaning and like most cons, you didn't do anything ... anyway, the house cleaning is called an election and Obama was re-elected ... Judging from your posts, and your side's attempts to prevent people from voting, you guys don't have any use for elections, but the rest of us still do ... so live with it, and next time don't be so dam lazy ... the rest of us are tired of picking up after you guys ... the mess you guys left in 2008 was one of your worst and it'll take a long time to clean up ...

Obama to propose 'grand bargain' on corporate tax rate, infrastructure | Reuters

He can at least wait for the plan details before he bitches can't he?

One could have thought it would be smart to wait, till he knew the details.

But it turns out, that the plan ist somewhat odd.

"“Here’s the bottom line: I’m willing to work with Republicans on reforming our corporate tax code, as long as we use the money from transitioning to a simpler tax system for a significant investment in creating middle-class jobs. That’s the deal,” "

If corporate taxes are siplified and reduced in the right way, it will be a job machine, no new spending will be required and existing programmes can be cut to reduce the budget.

Standard, expected absolutist thinking from the libertarians. Again.
There's this gap between "ideal business environment" and "nobody gets to have profit" that you seem to have missed.

No, they aren't. Wealth is a result of work. Cashflow, including profit margins, is transfer of that wealth, not the source of it.

The dichotomy that you claim exists doesn't. Companies need to make profit to stay in business, period. I say this having been business for over three decades. Believing there is another central purpose for doing business such as social engineering is fantasy. Even non profits depend on profit to exist. You may think this is absolutist, and you may be right. You just can't name a business that exists without profit that lasts.

*cough* *cough* what ever happened to claims of "class warfare" :lamo

So much for the Libbos looking out for the little guy. Those small busines operators are middle class workes, too.

So at what point in this does Obama give anything up? He gets more tax revenue and he gets another job program all the while all the republicans get is their intelligence insulted.

This is an insult to the intelligence to all Americans.

Obama wants to cut the corporate tax rate of 35 percent to 28 percent and give manufacturers a preferred rate of 25 percent. He also wants a minimum tax on foreign earnings as a tool against corporate tax evasion and the use of tax havens.
In exchange for his support for a corporate tax reduction, Obama wants the money generated by a tax overhaul to be used to fund such projects as repairing roads and bridges, improving education at community colleges and promoting manufacturing, senior administration officials said.

So first, it's not just a tax cut despite the liberal geniuses in this thread claiming that's all it is. It also includes according to that quote, tax on corporations with foreign operations who pay less than some minimum tax he has in mind. That's a tax increase for any and all such corporations. You may argue it's a justified one, just do not argue it's not a tax increase.
Additionally, he's picking a winner in manufacturing, treating an entire industry different for what reason?

And who can explain what precisely this "wants the money generated by a tax overhaul" refers to? Is this anticipated to come from the foreign min tax noted above? Basically a tax increase leads to extra revenue which he wants to spend? (I understand the "Obama wants the money" part, just not where it came from..

Wait so when Obama gives in to your demands of lowering taxes for the rich then its "oh this is a bad policy". Man you guys are too comical really showing your stripes, you guys really dont care about policy its all about "whatever OBama does is wrong"!

Thats literally what he is doing here!!! Lowering taxes..

Lowering taxes, then using the revenue generated to fund a jobs program?

We're still short on details about this grand plan, but it still looks like a tax increase to me.

When di I say that? I didn't. Did I? Do you know how stupid you sound?

 your political partisan hackery is boring. I didn't vote for Obama. And yes, you and the GOP ARE getting the president you deserve for putting up a lame ass like Romney. Tell your GOP to do better next time or keep dealing with Dem presidents.

You follow and worship the Dem/Rep duopoly, you get what you deserve.

We had two choices in November, Romney and Obama. I chose Romney and since you don't know what Romney would be doing now you are the partisan hack spouting rhetoric. I didn't get the choice I voted for therefore didn't get the President I deserved and the country is suffering with the President that liberals helped elect

Oh, wow, project much? What a bunch of bs. What house cleaning, Democrats retained the WH and the Senate and Republicans retained the House. Is that your idea of House Cleaning?

Keep picking up after "us" Guys while the economy remains in the toilet and there are record numbers dependent on liberalism and Obama. That "mess" we left you in 2008 was created with the help of a Democrat Congress and here we are almost 5 years later and the mess is worse unless you believe adding 6.2 trillion to the debt and having 2 million fewer people employed than when the recession began is an improvement?

Leadership is a concept that you and your ilk don't understand.

LOL...and you accuse Conservatives of wanting slavery? What happened our payriotic duty to question our elected leaders?

If Obama says it is going to be Grand, you can be assured it will be a horrible failure.

Greetings, DT, Jr. :2wave:

If jobs have been the number one priority for BHO since he was elected..."I'm focused like a laser on jobs"...why has it taken nearly five years to announce a "Grand Bargain" that includes job creation? Something doesn't add up here, so I find it easy to just consider this latest speech nothing more than "Grand" sounding rhetoric, with nothing concrete to back it up! I hope I am wrong, but ....

Further, what can he tell the nearly 50 million people now on food stamps...when this is something many never thought would happen to them because they once had jobs and paid their own way... just so they can feed their families; and what explanation will he have for the people who have lost their homes because they lost their jobs and couldn't make their house payments? What about the fact that over half of the people with jobs now find themselves only working part time at full time jobs, and having a difficult time making ends meet. And just how will raising the minimum wage help those workers, when we know everything is going to cost more as a result, so they gain little or nothing? What a mess!

No, you chose a lame ass. You got the president YOU deserve. That is the amusing part. Enjoy it, the blame is on the GOP for choosing a lame ass. You got what you and the GOP deserve.

LOL, lowering taxes by eliminating deductions? You continue to be brainwashed by the rhetoric.

You van't expect someone who hates private business to actually know how businesses work. The people who think this bill will lower taxes are totally clueless.

The President I deserved was the one I voted for and if he didn't succeed as I thought he would then I would have gotten the President I deserved. You are like far too many, typical whiners who never have any solutions and just complain.

It will be a tax cut for corporations, and a public works project. Maybe hire on some accountants to help funnel more millions to dead farmers.

Obama has proved time and again the he's a corporate whore.

Seems so, albeit, I think his ideology is more populist. The real problem is he, in my opinion, is surrounded by Capitalists (Wall Street folks enriched by capitalizing ventures) and not nearly enough if any influencial (ear of the President) Political Economists (Robert Reiches of the world) with a broad understanding of macroeconomics within polities.

So Obama is doing exactly what Clinton and Bush 43 did before him: focusing on income from Capital and assuming income from Labor will take care of itself, which it hasn't since the only winners are Capitalists, already enjoying record profits and wealth, while our middle class continues to shrink.

This is an insult to the intelligence to all Americans.

Let me amend your statement by changing "all" to "half," because there are those who actually believe that black is white, and up is down, and bad is good, and they believe and applaud what they hear, especially if it means what they think it does.

So you think it's a good idea to tax business losses?

your opinion noted but since I didn't vote for Obama that is nothing more than your typical rhetoric.

LOL your comment is funny considering that's all you do is provide nothing more than opinions. I think my comment stands, enjoy the president you deserve.

Your statement is that Romney and Obama are the same and that couldn't be further from the truth as the records show. So keep blabbering.
