Corgress woman Sheila Jackson Lee for Homeland Security Secretary

Just FYI, you can hold a doctorate or other terminal degree and be as dumb as a box of rocks.

Let me know when your adviser puts the hood on your gown.

Racism at its purest.

Regardless of her race who passes Law School but doesn't pass the bar ?

And didn't she attend " TSU " ??

People who use their law degrees in ways other than practicing law. Meanwhile, if making the laws, I like the idea of the Legislator knowing how it works. Glad she got her JD. What a peach.

Juris Doctorate ?

I would want the most qualified candidate possible as the Secretary of Homeland Defense.

NOT someone who got stymied by the bar.

That said maybe if you were from Houston and knew someone that was a graduate of TSU, you might understand our hesitation and criticism.

Its a " College " thats been neck deep in corruption time and time again. I wonder why ?

That would be a clever riposte if it hadn't already happened quite some time ago.

You mean like Barbara Jordan? :3oops: Or Mickey Leland?

Or Kirk Whalum or Yolanda Adams?

Try as we might up here in uber Liberal Seattle, it just keeps coming up roses. Boeing, Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks, Costco, Paccar, guys who throw fishes ... unemployment in the surrounding area, less than 3%. Or maybe it's how we vote: Dem govs, since forever. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, forever, it seems. And a guy who only has to be on the ballot to win; maybe pass out a business card (re-election campaign budget needed? $50 ought get him there). The good doctor, Congressman McDermott.

Can you imagine??? Lefties as thick as molasses, Liberal Dems, no blue dogs, and economic friggin nirvana, in a state that's not a so called welfare state, where what we get back in allocations is less than the amount we pay in federal taxes. Red states? 9 of the 10 top welfare states; more back than they pay in.

Mooches!!!!

Who doesn't pass the bar? Why the former Mayor of Los Angeles, Tony Villar, aka Antonio Villaraigosa. He failed it four times. That's the quality one gets when factors other than "qualified" are applied to the vote. It will take some time for Los Angeles to recover from his tenure

then why did Boeing move some production to SC

To leverage more concession from our governor. No biggie. We're swimming in Boeing plants. They litter the joint, plus with Amazon, Microsoft, etc., we have jobs growing out our ears. All kinds of out of state plates, with folks moving here. H1B visas galor, making for neighbors who cook great foods. It's all good. Happy to let SC have some of our table scraps.

Seattle is the ninth most-expensive city in which to live, says a new cost-of-living survey.

ACCRA, a national association of community and economic development researchers, rates 300 metropolitan areas quarterly on a variety of factors to measure the after-tax cost of living for a mid-management executive.

In the third quarter of 1992, the Seattle area was ranked fourth in grocery prices, trailing New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. Grocery prices here were rated 18 percent higher than the national average.

Seattle was sixth in housing costs, 46.5 percent above the U.S. average, and third in health-care, traditionally high here, at 38 percent above the national average.

Just like Detroit liberal failed policies come at a high cost and if it keeps going up like it has just like Detroit business will leave and people will follow

Median income is $75 K about. No sweat, if larger economies is your thing.

Might I ask exactly what qualification she has for this position?

From the article:

Since entering Congress in 1995, Jackson Lee has served on several committees, including Foreign Affairs, Judiciary and Homeland Security, in which she was the Chairwoman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection.

and if companies can do business cheaper else where they will move. just like they did leaving Detroit. high taxes and the outrages pay they had to folk out. they left and went where the cost of living where cheaper and taxes lower

It is why Texas has one of the best economy in the US because of lower taxes and a cheap cost of living. business are leaving the high cost liberal cities in droves

No doubt, but seems they're coming here. Folks with jobs. Jobs pay better. Maybe we'll buy their stuff. (see how that works?)

Meanwhile, if low cost housing is your thing, a hut in Sudan is a bargain, and not all screwed up by better-educated and higher-earning Lefties. Enjoy the cheap living.

Texas ranks 24th in the list of 50 states and DC on GDP per capita: $45,940. That's below the national average ($47,482)

Washington ranks 14th: $52,403, north of the national average.

I'd advise attracting better companies that need better educated workers, and not the bottom feeders looking to do everything on the cheap. It works like a charm up here.

and some one in Texas making $45,940 is living just as well as some one in Washington $52,403 because housing food gas and taxes are a lot cheaper in Texas

Better if you like fried pies, chicken fried steak or BBQ.

Meanwhile, Copper River King, or any Chinook Salmon when CRK is not in season, would be my preferred. Plus it's a sweltering mid 70s here, and has been for many weeks, whilst smelling fresh sea/inland sea air, and blue sky so blue you'd think it was Democrat Heaven .... which, actually it is. :)

Yes, that's Sheila Jackson Lee. Of course, if, say, Hurricane Katrina had been named "Keisha," she would have been shrieking that that name was racist because that's how she rolls.

And reasons like her are why there will always be racism.
