If you want to argue gun issues you should be aware of basic facts. England's rate of violent crime has increased steadily since the collective garment voiding due to Dunblane

If you weren't referring to national policy why does America have to deal with it? Shouldn't it be a more personal matter for the families to deal with instead of 300 million people chiming in?
There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.

    The where doesn't matter.

The US is very much like Mexico in that in most major cities there are gangs who act very much like the cartels, so the comparison is correct.

Actually, western Europe, Canada and Australia are supposed to be a lot like us. We were first, they just followed, at least in part, our example.

that said - they do occur far more frequently than in other countries (although the worst of these atrocities did not occur in the US) - even taking into account the population size, there are other countries that have populations just as diverse as in the US, and in any case the majority of mass shooting perpetrators are white males.

Yet it has nothing to do with gun ownership. If you count per-gun or per-gun-owner, we have FAR FEWER murders per-firearm/owner than almost any other nation.

As I've said repeatedly... rates of violent crime are about poverty and wealth inequality; corrupt or inefficient government/law; factions/tribes/gangs; the drug trade; and culture.

and can you refer me to any studies that have legitimately linked this to gun control?

a significant factor in increasing violence is alcohol. if guns were more available in the context of alcohol fuelled violence it would be much worse.

so if you think the US is comparable to Mexico, that is fine.

I get the impression there's a lot of people in the US who subscribe to the "culture of honor" mentality that is often found in more violent societies and is common in a number of latin American countries

I agree with you on this - in relation to the other matter I don't know. We haven't had any of those horrible mass murders since our govt introduced tight gun controls after Port Arthur - and we had a few in the decade or so before that. our culture didn't change though, and since that time we have seen increasing divergence in wealth, and increasing social and ethnic diversity.
