He doesn't take up as many column inches as say Reagan or Clinton used to.

Anyhow, to go back to the new royal arrival - I'd like a "Richard" (as in King Richard) except that he might not be lionheart reincarnated and if he's a plonker he would be called "Richardhead" - which is a polite version of a popular insult.

I'm partial to Nigel and Alastair ...

on Obama's popularity, I was swayed by this ...

Indeed, Obama was least popular in the Arab world. He had an approval rating of 35% in Morocco, 27% in Tunisia and 19% in Egypt, the lowest three on the African continent (Ghana was the highest with a 92% approval rating). His popularity waned by 13 points in France to 42% and by 10 points in Germany to 40%, reflecting the general feeling in both countries that the U.S. didn’t do enough to help with the Eurozone crisis. Though in Belgium, home to the European Union, Obama saw a rare bump of 15 point in his approval rating. Likewise the Brits love Obama more than ever; his popularity rose in the U.K. by 13 point to 67%. (Obama saw double-digit gains in only three countries: Belgium, the U.K. and Cambodia.)

I didnt tell him what post. I asked him for his motivation. How about doing some REAL moderating and enforcing the rules of the forum? This is a POLITICAL forum, not a celebrity news forum. Now go ahead and demerit me.

I don't like your attitude but I will answer anyway. This is politics, this is about how the media and those on the left are so fascinated with Europe and think we should emulate them. Witness how they make royalty out of their presidents, JFK Clinton and now the Obama's.

The Bushes actually had two Presidents in short succession. Are they on the left? And is the left in the forefront of lionizing Reagan?

I've met many people who fall more on the right politically who are none the less fascinated with the British royals. It's actually probably more of an East/West thing than a left/right thing. There's a lot of East Coast bias in the media - even in sports. ESPN apparently thinks that we're all obssessed with Yankees vs. Red Sox rather than Cubs vs. Cardinals, Twins vs. White Sox...I assume maybe Dodgers vs. Giants in California.

You just don't see the attitude on the right about their presidents as you get on the left. Reagan is honored and respected as a great president but those of us who feel that way liked seeing him in Levi's with a chain saw working on his land. The left treats their presidents like royalty. Camelot ring a bell?
