Judge rules Detroit bankruptcy filing UNCONSTITUTIONAL[W:584]

How am I obligated to take food off my table and lower my standard of living to correct someone else's mistakes?

I didn't go to work for and support a corrupt and failed system. I didn't see you, or any other Libbo, mailing me a check when The One shut down drilling in the GOM, killing my small business; so don't give me that bull****, when it's YOU who chooses when, who and what to be obligated to.

That is up to you to decide if you want to meet your legal obligations should you be asked to. Although the alternatives are not pleasant.

I have no obligation to make up for the city of Detroit getting sunk by its' unions, any more than I have an obligation to make up for e-readers' effects on traditional bookstores or bankers making bad bets.

You will if it is decided that you do.

Or, he could support candidates who won't take money out of his pocket to pay for governmental screw ups. You know, the political solution.

yes - the libertarian way of condemning the system while continuing to smile along reaping the benefits of the same system.

We all know how you hate libertarians, but what's you point? Every participant in the political system must endure the status quo until his supported policies are enacted. How could it be otherwise?

Tell it to the Pilgrims who helped start this country.

Interesting. So your solution to every policy debate is to emigrate. It seems that would result in an empty country.

I am a very sympathetic person who hates to see somebody like you in such obvious discomfort and pain. I am only trying to find an acceptable way out for you and the model of the Pilgrims is an obvious one of people who DID NOT succumb to living every day in hypocrisy as many right libertarians do. They took risks and dared to live their announced convictions. You have to admire that while having nothing but pity for the opposite.

Why should we leave the US? It would only be a matter of time before the parasite class you represent would show up with their hands out. So we might as well stay here.

Yeah, but someone has to stick around and oppose the tyrants.

Spoken like a true hypocrite. Sadly such a view only exemplifies one who lives oneway with their mouth and quite the opposite with their actions.

Yeah - one never knows when British King George will rise from the grave and tax tea again causing Yankee Doodle to have to pawn his tri-cornered hat.;):lamo

Oh, and I might add that there was a book written a few decades ago that outlined what would happen should the productive withdraw and turn the nation over to looters like yourself. I think it was called Atlas Shrugged or something like that. Perhaps you have heard of it. Perhaps you might give it a read so you don't look so foolish when you speak.

Please detail my hypocrisy. Thanks.

Yeah - I have heard of toilet paper also. And it is far more useful and far less abrasive that Rand. ;)

No I will not. That is what is called "theft". Power is not self-legitimizing.

Oh you will. Or you will accept the consequences of breaking the law. One way or the other - you will pay if it is the law of the land.

 the use of force also does not create legitimacy. I am under no obligation to make good on Detroits' self-destructive decisions, despite your desire to expand the ability of public sector unions to suck on the productivity of others.

But I like how you so quickly reach for the "give me money or else" stick. Thank you for demonstrating so ably the particular nature of your side.

The hypocrisy of the libertarian is their constant carping, their non stop whining, their perpetual bitching, their litany of complaints, and their notebook filled with sobs all about the terrible system we live in which oppresses freedom and liberty and constrains them and their beliefs...... but they still stay, they still enjoy the fruits of a cooperative society that they appear to despise.... they still enjoy the benefits of a government they profess to oppose and some even loathe. They attack eminent domain but yet use our airports, our roads, our infrastructure which was produced using the constitutional power. They ;whine and cry about zoning laws but enjoy living in communities with zoning laws that improve and protect their quality of life. They attack public employees but reap the benefits of their education and labor and the services they provide.

I think that covers enough for the time being.

Legitimacy is in the eye of the beholder. And the beholder that counts in this land is the peoples government which determines if something is legitimate or not.

And this vast empty land full of riches, ripe for the taking is where? ;)

There are islands for sale. Other nations welcome immigrants. But that choice is yours and not mine to make.

The Pilgrims were not exactly answering a TV marketing campaign promising a land of milk and honey and sandy beaches with cold drinks with umbrellas in them now were they?

 even if we decide to bail out detroit, that does not create the obligation to do so.

And the people's government long ago gave up trying to determine if something was legitimate or not. They decided to let the Courts do that for them, and abrogated their responsibility thereafter.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Statists only know how to use violence to accomplish their ends. The comment you noted highlights this fact.

If the peoples government decides accordingly and part of your taxes are used for it - the matter is closed.

I'm not legally obligated to bail out Detroit.
