Umm, noIt does not address this specific instance. The cops did not arrest Briggs for carrying a gun in an gun free zone or a "government bulding" as he was not in one. They arrested him for carrying a gun outside of a home or business. Now unless there is a law which states that the whole of DC is a gun free zone then the law should be challenged. The only way to challenge any law enough to get up to SCOTUS is to have standing. The only way to have standing is by showing that (in this case) you are not allowed to carry a gun in public. IE, get arrested for carrying a gun outside of your home or business.

Any statistical violence problems in Illinois are a result of Chicago. Where things are essentially out of control with regard to gang violence and high murder rates.
The rest of Illinois is relatively civil/peaceful. Many people don't realize that if you isolate/discount Cook County (Chicago) the remainder of Illinois is a solid "red" state.
