In any case, while Zimmerman didn't specifically invoke SYG, language from the law was included in the jury instructions and Juror B37, who spoke to the media yesterday, said that they considered it in deliberations. Beyond that, many people who feel that Zimmerman's actions were inappropriate believe that SYG laws facilitate actions like his moreso than regular self-defense laws.
I have not seen where B37 cited SYG. Please provide a citation or link.

No,not "Oh well". It's time we started pointing these things out to those who would assume authority they do not have. I'll be sure to bring it up with our representative when I see in about two weeks.

Did I say otherwise? I'm not sure why you think this comment is relevant as a response to my post.

What inappropriate actions were taken other than those performed by the aggressor?
If you are trying to argue about the Zimmerman trial, this is not the thread to do that. There is an entire forum dedicated to that. I put this in "Breaking News" for a reason.

I do agree with the sentiment on a law that allows me to provoke an altercation and even to throw the first punch, and then to shoot someone because I fear for my life after the victim defends themself. Even if you do not agree zimmerman did that, it is still something that can happen under the law which IMO is way too open.

I really do not take this as amounting to much more than a political point being made to a bunch of people who were outraged. We know they are not going to get much done at all if they couldn't even get background checks on all gun purchases to keep felons and crazies from buying guns. It is up to the state legislatures and that means florida voters. I am not terribly outraged by something any politician is going to do when speaking before a group with political ideals. I will save any outrage or approval for when some action is taken and not a bunch of hot air.

If the racial makeup were reversed, George Zimmerman would have been convicted and Holder would still be making the same argument.

If you read what I wrote, you'd see I said I didn't care what he had to SAY. Actions are a different matter, but that wasn't being discussed.

True. While I support Holder's argument, I won't put much stock in his claims until I see actual actions being taken.
