Texas Senate confiscates tampons while debating anti-abortion bill [W:155]

Please name the person who claims they saw someone bringing jars of urine and feces into the building.

The article cited select individuals that did not have personal knowledge of the events at that time. That was all.

Your "name the person" challenge is a juvenile game that is a lame effort to distract.

You provide evidence that DPS has retracted any of their statements and you may have a point to make. Until then, not so much.

bull****....

Cole, if...IF!!...and just for the sake of argument...it turned out the feces claim was completely untrue, would that improve your opinion of the protesters?

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Depends...

They banned those too? No wonder they were in such a hurry to pass this bill.

L7 was a pretty cool band. There's an urban legend in the local music scene up here about them. The story goes that when they played the 7th St. Entry, one of them put a vocal mic up her hoohah. I don't know how true it is, but some of the mics I've used there do smell kind of funny.

Actually, Rocket, I'm pretty sure openly carried rifles and shotguns would have been confiscated. It's called a concealed weapons permit for a reason.

Infringement!

No individuals have any personal knowledge of anyone bringing urine and feces into the building

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

So we should probably arrest everyone who owns a car. No need to wait for someone to drive drunk before we arrest them. Prevent it in the first place.

BTW, your logic is exactly the same logic behind gun control. Just thought you'd like to know that you are again actually ADVOCATING a left-wing position.

you should take the keys away when someone threatens to drive drunk. just like you should take the guns away when someone threatens to use them illegally
if there was no threats to throw those tampons then yes they over reached taking them, but there was numerous threats to do so

i like how you omit the fact of a threat in your comment why is that

Cole, if...IF!!...and just for the sake of argument...it turned out the feces claim was completely untrue, would that improve your opinion of the protesters?

It would certainly undo some of the disdain provoked by the idea/thought that they WOULD hurl piss, crap, and tampons at state legislators. <smile>

So "yes".

Probably because getting hit with some wadded up cotton isn't exactly a threat.

You seem to struggle with the concept of logic.....

Well, alright. Why not just wait for the facts to come out then? You have one report that says that it's true, you have another that says the officers specifically say it's not. Why put everything on the story that it happened if there is cause to suspect it's not true?

No individuals have any personal knowledge of anyone bringing urine and feces into the building

how many did they ask? the article said "Officers" that can be two, why didn't they give us a number of all they asked it would go towards creditability if they did

the Texas tribune is a liberal publication and we all know liberal publication will obscure and manipulate the truth

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

It's legal to be armed. It's not legal to throw things.

the facts were provided they said so in a press release what more do you want? pictures of the jars of crap? should they send it to the crime lab and have the crap analyzed to make sure it is crap and it is human crap?
but you wouldn't believe it even of they did just like you don't believe the press release
so it would be a waste of time and tax payer money to prove to some butt hurt sore grapes liberals

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Actually, I don't think anyone actually threw them. There were a couple of Twittery type threats to do so...

I suppose you'll be in favor of confiscating guns at the next NRA rally?

View attachment 67150319

That seems kind of like a threat to me. Does it only count if it's Twitter?

How are tampons to abortion like guns are to the NRA? I mean... what?

No individuals have any personal knowledge of anyone bringing urine and feces into the building
so it was two individuals

You choose to believe the initial report, and dismiss the followup report in which the officers state that no such thing happened.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Guns are personal property too. I certainly hope to hear you speak up next time some politician wants to infringe on our second amendment and property rights.

BUT again, tampons and maxi-pads were never meant to kill people. Try as I might, I can't find a single instance of twenty or thirty people being massacred with tampons. It's pretty easy to find such massacres with guns, explosives, or poison gas...but not tampons.

I know this may be difficult to understand, but tampons and maxi-pads are not designed to take human life...and the only reason that the Constitution says that gun ownership "shall not be infringed" is because at the time it was written, a well-regulated militia was necessary because the very notion that we would have a standing army in peacetime was very much in doubt. Here's documents from the first Congressional debate on arms and militia, a proposal by New Hampshire:

TENTH, That no standing Army shall be Kept up in time of Peace unless with the consent of three fourths of the Members of each branch of Congress, nor shall Soldiers in Time of Peace be Quartered upon private Houses without the consent of the Owners... TWELFTH Congress shall never disarm any Citizen unless such as are or have been in Actual Rebellion.

The "shall not be infringed" line came not because the founding fathers thought that gun ownership was somehow sacred, but because the existence of a standing army in peacetime was still very much in question.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

You got jokes, eh? :doh

Sometimes it's the best way to respond. After all, and correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the tampons which were confiscated concealed carry?

Just stop. Truth is dependent on belief systems... facts are not. There is not ONE commercial, widely consumed outlet for "news" that is not manipulating and obscuring in order to pander to ideological and party loyalists... ON BOTH SIDES. If you agree with it, it's truth, if you don't, it's dangerous manipulated propaganda. I can't think of anything more lame.

The "shall not be infringed" line came not because the founding fathers thought that gun ownership was somehow sacred, but because the existence of a standing army in peacetime was still very much in question.

Horse-feathers. Why was it in question? Because standing armies are DANGEROUS to domestic peace. And if you read the extensive works (letter, opinions, etc), you'll find that gun ownership is indeed sacred. Why? Because without weapons we are without recourse to defend ourselves against a historical constant of all ages, eras, gov'ts, and men of ambition without a single exception... all gov'ts become tyrannically oppressive to the masses. Again and again and again, by founder after founder, we were warned that we have more to fear from our own gov't and it's army than we do from any foreign power. This hasn't changed in 10,000 years... why do you think it's different now?

Press statements are different from asking individual officers.

Press statements are different from asking individual officers.

Actually I knew that the initial report was a press release. I am having difficulty weighing that against a followup report on what the officers themselves said.

Anyway, I don't about you but I'm all feced out. Seriously, I don't think I've said the word "feces" as many times in my life as I have in this thread.

Wait - it's dishonest to worry more about loaded guns in the hands of idiots than about tampons and maxi-pads? Dude, thou needest a reality check in the worst way.

Truly either you are really confused or dishonest in your posts... Which is it?
