Texas Senate confiscates tampons while debating anti-abortion bill [W:155]

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

You should, they look silly.

So you accuse me of abandoning my points, and when I point how I've argued each one with anyone who felt like picking them up, this is the best you can do? Not, "Oops, I guess I was wrong?" Whatever.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

The people with tampons had plans.

Not a sentence I ever expected to read.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Look, dude, slamming a tampon up there as a preventative measure is not exactly undue inconvenience.

There was a security reaction to a specific threat and there was no real problems involved... until hysterical people tried to make it into something else.

Since the rumor or tip was about the throwing of used tampons, by your logic shouldn't the authorities have required women to extract any inserted tampons and surrender them?

I was not wrong. Your "points", outlined above, are BS and have been dispensed with. Continue crying about guns if you must, but that is as ridiculous as your previous "points".

If they let guns in, then there can be no security or disturbance concerns regardless of direct threats!!11!!

:rolleyes

If people don't feel like discussing them, that's their choice. I've argued them every time someone took issue with them. You were wrong.

Enough women disagree. Furthermore, it was a political disaster. Lastly, again, the legislature rescinded the order due to the should-have-been-obvious issue.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

No, the authorities were told they had plans. If we're talking about a violent attack that is one thing, I approve of preemptive measures there. I even approve of preemptive measures against the use of biological waste or property damage.

This is nowhere near the same thing, and the appropriate response was to wait until people actually broke the law and then punish them. This way punishes everyone with a presumption of guilt.

True. They could have just tolerated a tampon and pad melee and then arrested them for assault instead. Maybe they were actually doing these "fine ladies" a favor.

The only political disaster is that of the ninnies screaming about a simple little disturbance concern founded on specific threats and trying to make it into an event of consequence.

:lamo That does sound funny!

How long will it be before you abandon the ignorant battle-cry of 'But they let guns in!!'

As if that has anything to do with a specific threat.

At least that way, only those who actually intended to disrupt the proceedings would be punished. Kind of like how they assume that law-abiding gun carriers were going to obey the law.

I'll argue the point until I get bored, sort of like how you'll lie about me until you get bored, I guess.

I haven't lied about anything. Your "points" are a pile of ash and everyone can see that. And your newest battle-cry is especially clueless.

Sure you did. You said I dropped points I haven't dropped. Keep on lying, bud.

Do you really see this as a "punishment?" Good Lord, I'm a woman and I don't think someone taking my tampon away as a punishment (unless they took ALL of my tampons and wouldn't let me have them anymore). I might think they were a little weird and wonder what exactly they think I'm going to do with my tampon, but that's about the extent of the outrage for me.

Those specific threats were regarding used tampons.

Those points are dropped and will not resurface. Soon, the dumb crap about 'if we let guns in, then we cannot take ANY security measures" is equally (or more) flawed.

Your "points" exist only in your mind and they are not worthy of any defense.

So you're not complaining about confiscating jars of urine or feces? Why not? What if the folks carrying those had legit reasons too, like they were going to drop them off at a medical lab for testing.

Re: Guns Yes, Tampons NO! Welcome to Texas, Y'all!

Those specific threats were regarding used tampons.

If so, there was a miss-communication. That does not turn the event into an exercise in oppressing women.

Absolutely. If there's some rumor about tampon-throwing, and as a result you have to give up your tampon in order to view the workings of your government (as is your right, nobody should be able to take that away), you are being punished for something someone else supposedly planned to do.

So if they suck so much, why do you keep talking about them? Why do they keep drawing your attention?

I don't believe it's appropriate to bring biological waste in to watch a legislative session. Honestly, I don't think there are many places where it's appropriate to bring biological waste. If you can offer a legitimate reason for bringing it to the capitol building, I'm all ears.

It did not necessarily equal oppressing women, but the net impact was that it sent the signal that you could not dismiss the sex angle at all.

I know you want to believe this happened in a vacuum and that the authorities didn't have any information and were just being mean and targeting people you agree with but I seriously doubt that was the case.

I don't think they were doing it to be dicks. I just think they were inconsiderate jackasses who penalized everyone for the rumored plans of who knows how many or few people.
